The reason for its creation was that Wall was unhappy by the functionality that sed, C, awk and the Bourne Shell offered him.

Modern World History Lesson Plans for High School

Wednesday, 19 August 2009 06:20 I spent my sabbatical from teaching at Lowell High School, creating a website for teachers of the Modern World History course. One of my greatest frustrations as a teacher is the lack of time to collaborate with my colleagues. We begin every year with the pledge to collaborate and share more of our ideas and lesson plans, however as we get into the year we get caught up in the fast pace of the semester and don’t have time share, plans, ideas, video clips, etc. This website will, hopefully, provide a space for us to share lesson plans, links to sources, streamed videos, notes, power point presentations, as well as be able to make comments about what worked and what didn’t work in our classes.

Categories of Evaluation: Advice for Teachers (Grades K-12) - TeacherVision.com

The majority of data gathered in summative evaluation comes from teacher-made tests . In 1956, Benjamin Bloom headed a group of educational psychologists who developed a classification of levels of intellectual behavior important in learning. During the 1990's a new group of cognitive psychologists, lead by Lorin Anderson (a former student of Bloom), updated the taxonomy to reflect relevance to 21st century work. The two graphics show the revised and original Taxonomy. Note the change from nouns to verbs associated with each level. http://www.odu.edu/educ/roverbau/Bloom/blooms_taxonomy.htm

Graphic organizers (some of which are also called concept maps, entity relationship charts, and mind maps) are a pictorial way of constructing knowledge and organizing information. They help the student convert and compress a lot of seemingly disjointed information into a structured, simple-to-read, graphic display. The resulting visual display conveys complex information in a simple-to-understand manner. Increasing Understanding by Creating Graphic Organizers: The process of converting a mass of data/information/ideas into a graphic map gives the student an increased understanding and insight into the topic at hand. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/graphicorganizers/

The Multiple Intelligence theory suggests that no one set of teaching strategies will work best for all students at all times. All children have different proclivities in the seven intelligences, so any particular strategy is likely to be successful with several students, and yet, not for others. Because of these individual differences among students, teachers are best advised to use a broad range of teaching strategies with their students. As long as instructors shift their intelligence emphasis from presentation to presentation, there will always be a time during the period or day when a student has his or her own highly developed intelligence(s) actively involved in learning. Developing a Thesis

Developing A Thesis Think of yourself as a member of a jury, listening to a lawyer who is presenting an opening argument. You'll want to know very soon whether the lawyer believes the accused to be guilty or not guilty, and how the lawyer plans to convince you.
