Pattaya Graffiti on Flickr: This is my little sideline project: I'm currently running around Pattaya to document all the Graffiti found here. It seems to be the trend, to use Graffiti, in some respects, as a form of unofficial advertising for local tattoo shops etc. These works however, are not as prolific or wide spread as one might find in western cities; predominantly found around the Sukhumvit Rd and Pattaya Klang area of the city (in a building I refer to as the Bat Cave).

Our youngest artist, the already prolific Portuguese-born Alexandre Farto's range spans from collage to portraiture. Of late he's taken to creating works purely from in situ materials, taking vandalism as art to its logico ad absurdum conclusion. Advertising hoardings are torn to make fresh images, and plaster drilled away at until the remaining relief forms the work. He is, at any given time, experimenting with a cocktail of Quink ink and household bleach. But this is a long way from brutalism. Vhils art is poetic, complex, and ambitious, often focusing on the needs we have abandoned in favour of our wants, and the realisation that trading pleasure back in for happiness will be a less than straightforward exchange.

Wooster Collective: Sten and Lex's "Poster Stencils"
Sara and I have been following the work of Sten and Lex in Italy for many years. We’ absolutel love their latest body of work, created for their current solo show at the CO2 GALLERY in Rome. They call this recent series “Poster Stencils” because, in essence, they are both stencils and posters at the same time.
