Share My Playlists, an excellent service that lets you upload and discover new Spotify playlists , just released a list of the most popular tracks of 2011. They got the list by multiplying the number of times a song appeared in a playlist by the number of plays it received on Spotify . Check out the list below.

Normally when a tech company launches a product or feature that's billed as a potential "killer" of a popular incumbent, there's cause to be skeptical. Quite often, that's just unsubstantiated hype either on the part of the company itself or tech writers. In the case of Spotify's new Web radio feature, we're not going to go so far as to say that it's a "Pandora killer," but its inclusion in Spotify's desktop client is going to give the up-and-coming streaming service a tangible advantage over the 11-year-old Web radio service. This week, darling of the all-you-can-stream music space Spotify announced that it's opening up to third party developers and creating a platform on which they can build HTML5 apps to run within its desktop client. Once approved by Spotify, those apps will be available to users from the service's new "App Finder" button. They've also added a new home screen that show's what music is trending among one's friends, as well as an improved social experience all around. The new features are not yet included in the Spotify desktop client, but curious users can download a preview of the next version of the software. We did and after using it, we're finding that the inclusion of third party apps makes Spotify much better. It's not that Spotify was lacking to begin with.

Spotify Previews is a new section that showcases a few of the fun ideas and projects that our developers have been working on - mostly in their spare time, during hack days or in the middle of the night when they can't sleep. Some of these are pet projects, some are prototypes but they're all designed to make Spotify even more enjoyable. The projects here are unsupported by Spotify so they may not work as planned or be removed at any time, but if you like what we're doing let us know and if they prove popular enough they may well become regular Spotify features. What's New The newly designed "What's New" screen features new albums and trending playlists and tracks from Spotify friends. Click here to view this gallery. Spotify just announced its new app platform. Partnering with the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Billboard, Last.fm and The Guardian, the online music service aims to allow users to get more from their tunes. As Mashable reader Cristian Parrino pointed out in the comments, the fact that an app has launched its own app platform is an intriguing move.

Spotify revealed today that it now has 2.5 million paying subscribers. That's up from 2 million in mid-September. In other words, it's added about 500,000 subscribers since the Facebook F8 conference, where it started letting users share songs for free through the social network. Earlier this month, Facebook reported that Spotify had added about 4 million free users since F8. Assuming those growth rates stayed constant for the last couple of weeks, it's probably closer to 5 million now. Five million new users and 500,000 new subscribers translates to a conversion rate of about 10%.

Sonos Update Adds Support For Android Tablets And New Spotify Features

Sonos announced today that it's releasing an update for its music systems that includes compatibility with a variety of new Android-based tablets, including the Kindle Fire. The Sonos Controller app now works on Samsung Galaxy Tabs, HTC Flyer, Sony Tablet S, Kindle Fire, and most other Honeycomb tablets. The update also includes better Spotify integration that pulls in tracks from your inbox plus Spotify's new releases and top tracks lists. Those new Spotify features likely have something to do with what Spotify plans to announce at its big press event in NYC later today.

One can clearly see how Spotify caught on like wildfire in 2009, prompting the company to introduce limitations like a UK invite-only system just to manage the server load. Within the base of total users, premium subscription growth has been steady and less pronounced, but has doubled in the last year, to 2.5 million . The company has not specified a U.S. subscriber count but, viewed here, the subscriber growth has mostly occurred on the trajectory Spotify was already ploughing. Spotify is not giving us an update on its total registered users base beyond the 10 million it gave a year ago.

Spotify a obtenu un accord avec la Sabam et les maisons de disques pour une diffusion gratuite sur internet et une redistribution des fonds générés sur le territoire du Royaume. Pas de grande surprise pour cette version belge de Spotify qui reste la même qu’ailleurs dans le monde.
