Audio Units are the new native plugin standard for Mac OS X. Just like we had VST, MAS, RTAS, Premiere, AudioSuite, and all those in Mac OS 8 and 9, we now have Audio Unit in Mac OS X. They require Mac OS X version 10.3.9 (Panther) or higher. They are all compiled as "universal binaries", which means that they run natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
