The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) is holding a public service announcement video contest from now until March 16, 2012. The contest is to help raise awareness of children's mental health and substance abuse issues. "There's still stigma associated with these children's mental illnesses and substance abuse. If we can get people talking about children's metal health, hopefully we can break those barriers down and people will seek treatment or help a friend if they see that going on," said Lynn Goldberg, communications and event specialist for ODMHSAS. Prevention and treatment of these illnesses is important too, as well as the subsequent positive effects on the overall future health of Oklahoma. "Prevention is really important," Goldberg said.
