Creating stopmotion and timelapse videos can be a good way for students to tell a story that they have developed. Stopmtion and timelapse videos can also be helpful when teachers are trying to help students see how a lengthy process like osmosis works. While good stopmotion and timelapse videos can take a long time to create, there are some tools that can make the process a little easier. Here are three stopmtion video creation tools that are worth trying. JellyCam is a free program for creating stopmotion movies. Using JellyCam you can create stop motion movies using images from your computer or images that you capture via your webcam. http://www.freetech4teachers.com/2013/01/three-free-tools-for-creating.html#.UP322onjmX8

If you already bought an FS700 , or you’ve been waiting on the sidelines so far, there is a big issue with slow motion that many who’ve shot with Phantom cameras might already be familiar with : flicker. Now that film sets are littered with different types of fixtures, it’s important to understand how shooting slow motion under different light sources can induce some amount of flicker. Certain fixtures produce more flicker than others (especially at different shutter speeds), but in the video below, Hello World Communications takes a look at some of the most popular fixtures for film lighting and how they deal with flicker. Also embedded below, check out some recent examples from Luke Neumann and Tony Reale. http://nofilmschool.com/2012/07/shooting-slow-motion-fs700-examples/

M.I.T. Camera Captures Speed of Light: A Trillion-Frames-Per-Second

Think of it as the ultimate slow-motion movie camera. Researchers at M.I.T. have developed an imaging system so fast it can trace the motion of pulses of light as they travel through liquids and solids. To put it into perspective, writes John Markoff in The New York Times , “If a bullet were tracked in the same fashion moving through the same fluid, the resulting movie would last three years.” http://www.openculture.com/2011/12/mit_camera_captures_speed_of_light.html

The Battle Rages On | Syria: Civil War Amid the Bashar Assad Regime

In March 2011, Arab Spring–inspired protests kicked off in the impoverished Syrian agricultural town of Dara‘a. The mini-uprising, defined by its peaceful character, met a brutal response, one that few observers at the time could have anticipated would blow up into a far wider rebellion against President Bashar Assad and the entrenched, decades-long rule of his family. With Syrian authorities clamping down on journalistic access and freedoms, we saw glimpses of the unrest there for months only through grainy YouTube footage—images as uncertain and hard to corroborate as the events on the ground. But roughly two years of violence has witnessed an all-out civil war, one that has perhaps irredeemably fissured the country along sectarian lines. http://world.time.com/2012/04/02/syrias-year-of-chaos-photos-of-a-slow-motion-civil-war/#syria_re-edit_42

10 Amazing Slow Motion Videos of Everyday Things

http://mashable.com/2012/03/25/10-amazing-slow-motion-videos-of-everyday-things/ We live in a fast-paced world. Maybe that's why slow motion videos are so appealing to us. Using cameras with ultra-high frame rates reveals details that are usually invisible to the naked eye. In 1878, a camera that could capture images at a higher frame rate even settled a bet between then California Governor, Leland Stanford and some of his friends. The bet rose out of a debate on whether or not all four of a horse's hooves left the ground while running. Landscape photographer Edward Muybridge put the debate to rest when he produced the pictures to prove that they do in fact leave the ground.
