When we set out to create a list of beautiful doors around the world, we were surprised to find just how many truly amazing doors there are out there that have been decorated with beautiful craftsmanship and artwork. The door is probably the single part of a building’s exterior that people will interact most frequently with, so if you want a building to look impressive up close, there’s probably no better way to do this than by having a beautiful door. And they were confident these stories could change lives, both within the community and around the world. In late 2008, the concept was first tested when one of the friends went to South Sudan and gave cameras to kids at an orphanage. The photos that returned were remarkable. In a hard place that most would call hopeless, these images told a different story: one full of life, hope, and joy. Our four friends wanted to share the stories of these kids with their friends. With the success of these events and encouragement from family and friends, 100cameras officially incorporated in Spring 2009.

Watch out. Internet Archive Paying Employees in Bitcoin, Asking for Donations. The Internet Archive, one of the most widely known nonprofit organizations in the internet community, has just announced that they intend to start paying a portion of their employees’ salaries in Bitcoin.

The Archive describes itself as “a non-profit digital library offering free universal access to books, movies & music, as well as 267 billion archived web pages”, and is most well-known for two key projects. First, the Archive maintains the Wayback Machine, a service that allows anyone to access old versions of web pages, including potentially web pages that have since disappeared from the internet, from as far back as 1996. Second, the organization’s website features a collection of millions of works in video, music, audio and text. The organization first started accepting Bitcoin for donations in December 2012.
