Seafile.

Raspberry Pi as low-cost HD surveillance camera : Installing the motion detection software. A very good (and free open-source) motion detection/surveillance software with many configuration options is motion.

We now need to install it using the command line (log in to your raspberry as user "pi"): sudo apt-get install motion Some packages will be installed in the installation process; just type "y" to proceed with the installation. As the current version of motion does not (yet) support the Raspberry camera module, we need to download and install a special build with support for this camera module.

Ever since the announcement of the Raspberry Pi, sites all across the Internet have offered lots of interesting and challenging uses for this exciting device.

Raspberry Pi: the Perfect Home Server

Although all of those ideas are great, the most obvious and perhaps least glamorous use for the Raspberry Pi (RPi) is creating your perfect home server. If you've got several different computers in need of a consistent and automated backup strategy, the RPi can do that. If you have music and video you'd like to be able to access from almost any screen in the house, the RPi can make that happen too. Maybe you have a printer or two you'd like to share with everyone easily? Playing music on a Raspberry Pi using UPnP and DLNA (revisited) A music system with a Raspberry Pi plugged in to an amplifier playing music that you choose with your mobile phone.

Playing music on a Raspberry Pi using UPnP and DLNA (revisited)

The music can come from MP3s on your phone, from files on your server or from internet radio stations. If there’s more than one Android phone in your household you can have them all synchronised, showing the same playlist and controlling the same music. If you have multiple Raspberry Pis you can put one in each room and choose which one to play the music with.

This is all achieved with free software and open standards. I’ve just written some instructions to show how to do it. RPi VerifiedPeripherals. Back to the Hub.

I2C and the Raspberry Pi. Well I2C was the obvious next candidate for a driver. Another active Raspberry Pi coder, Frank Buss, wrote some nice driver code but sadly didn’t integrate it with Linux’s own i2c driver framework.

It worked, though not as I wanted it. He did the hard work. I then took his code (with his permission of course) and wrote a Linux i2c driver for it today. Brian's Life: Getting SPI working on the Raspberry Pi. So one of the phases in my project is connecting the Raspberry Pi to a micro-controller that has many Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals. Since the Raspberry doesn't have the number of PWM signals I need to control i'm going to do so through SPI. This post is the 'how to' on getting your SPI signals outputting from your Raspberry Pi.
