We Are the 99 Percent
It is rare that we post something other than the photos, but this has some important information to remember as we prepare for #mayday http://occupywallst.org #m1gs I am an old, retired overseas Chinese person that has always been harassed by my landlord and threatened by eviction. The landlord has used all sorts of methods such as not accepting my rent checks and not providing hot water or heat. Last summer it was the worst when the landlord turned on the heat to bake us alive! We are the 99%! I’ve been living in the US for 30 years, working in a restaurant all the entire time.
This is one of the first social movements in history able to produce high-quality imagery using digital graphic design tools, and distribute them instantaneously anywhere in the world using file-sharing and social media. We aim to provide a universal visual toolset for the Occupy movement which crosses language barriers and brings a strong visual identity to the movement. We offer a design toolkit which any designer can use to create graphics within this framework, as well as leveraging our designer network to rapidly create logistical signs, protest signs, and other visual resources requested by on-the-ground demonstrators. For our protest signs, we place an emphasis on physical infographics - because it is much easier to argue with and deny broad statements than it is with statistics. When political talking points are stripped aside, the numbers behind the movement speak for themselves - and factually support the injustices perpetrated on the 99%.

OWS is calling upon you to participate in a national day of direct action on November 17 in celebration of the the two month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Students across the country will gather together on November 17 to protest the rising costs of college education, and the diminishing quality in that education from universities. Students will strike by gathering in central locations throughout each school, or in solidarity at Occupy Wall Street.
