Situated in the same beautiful – but highly protected – warehouse as the restaurant, Noma’s FoodLab had to be constructed without placing even a single nail into the walls or floors – instead, GXN designed four central multi-functional storage units; each comprising over 500 individually formed wooden cubes. Soft lighting, delicate hues, and an emphasis on space – it’s the antithesis of all that shouty, sweary Hell’s Kitchen malarkey, and exactly the sort of place you’d imagine those exquisitely ethereal dishes are made.

An addition to the other sumptuous bar/restaurant Fabrica Kreaton, who both where designed Greek architect and interior designer Minas Kosmidis. The renovated 1950s farm house of 270 square-meter (approx. 3,000 square feet) gives a barn-yard chic vibe inspired by Greek butcher shop and country side. Mirja Sick and María Meller are Joint Perspectives, a newly-formed design studio based in London. They have recently completed a design for the Mundvoll café and grocery store in Germany that included the identity, website, packaging and interior design. Mundvoll is a “corner store” café and shop that has a goal of bringing back that mom-and-pop local grocery store concept.
The store serves drinks, small plates, and lunch, as well as stock a variety of necessities. Mundvoll was designed as a temporary space with a small budget, as it will move alongside the Zeppelin University campus by the end of 2012. Form Us With Love partnered with TRÄULLIT, the only manufacturerof woodwool cement board in Sweden. Woodwool cement board is an environmentally-friendly material that also absorbs sound. Made from cut wood slivers that are mixed with water and cement, the tiles are also moisture-resistant and, well, look really cool put together on a wall. Le Bar by Concepts by Catherine. Le Bar by Concepts by Catherine is a fun bar for indoor or outdoor use made of gray driftwood and painted aluminum.
The driftwood part of the design doubles as a wine bottle holder. Part of the “Baptized by Nature Design” collection, the bar will be quite the conversation piece in any space. Located in Condesa, the fashion and art district of Mexico City, reclaimed wood plays a major role in the design. Maintaining a feeling of harmony and balance, this welcoming area features an open kitchen bar, hair salon, Aveda store and reception area. Each section of solid American oak scrap wood was mapped out prior to being transported to the site, disassembled and then reassembled on location. For the main furniture pieces, the wood strips were painted in different colors. Through an in-depth exploration of marks, we landed on a stylized version of the classic hummus and pita dish.
This iconic meal represents the community and authenticity that The Hummus & Pita Co. stands for. Starbucks Amsterdam Concept Shop by Liz Muller. Starbucks opened an experimental concept store in Amsterdam, which will be a lab for reinventing the brand.
