How to cut glass. I posted a picture about 1 week ago on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter of me cutting glass using just string. I got LOT’S of requests for a tutorial on how I DID THIS! So here it is. FINALLY! You will be able to learn how to cut glass. I want to warn you. When I first started doing this I got VERY frustrated because I could not get it to break the way I wanted. Be patient when trying to master this because after all, we are cutting with string and polish remover. It’s best to triple your yarn because it will burn longer!

Soak it GOOD! I like to tie my yarn where I want my glass to “cut” then quickly pour polish remover over the string again. Get a big bowl with ice and water ready. VERY IMPORTANT! Slowly turn your bottle. You can’t let the flame go OUT then dunk it in the ice water. YAY!!! I reallly hope you enjoyed this tutorial because I had ALOT of requests for it! © Copyright jaderbombllc, All rights Reserved. Cubeecraft - Free Papercraft Toys. How To Mix Chalkboard Paint in Any Color. We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success.

Here's how you too can create your own chalkboard paint... Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!) , 1 tablespoon unsanded grout (this can be purchased at most hardware/home improvement stores, we got ours at Home Depot), mixing cup or bowl, spoon, paint brush and an object or board you plan to paint on. 1. 2. Once your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it for the first time. Have fun creating any color combination you like!! Gifts to Make for Your Man. Stuffed animal.

The idea is very simple. Fasten twines on the empty frame and hang photos using clothes pins on them. You can use a frame you bought or a frame you made by yourself. To make it you just need to find some wood strips, sand them, paint or stain them and fasten together with the staples and nails. Yes, everything is as simple as it sounds. How to make gift bags from newspaper.

When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper. I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness.

Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Upend the bag so the 2" flap is now up. Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag.

Inexpensive DIY Cakestands. This all began with a case of cake stand envy. My friend Glory has the most amazing collection of cake stands, and since I stalk her blog, they were always nearby, tempting me, calling my name… The problem is, I have not ONCE in my life made a beautiful cake, which makes it hard to justify a collection of cake stands… ESPECIALLY when most of them cost the better part of a hundred dollars.

And even if I could find a way to justify buying one, I need them to display cookies and most cake stands are WAY too big for that. Then one day, I stumbled upon this amazing idea from Centsational Girl, and my whole world changed. That very weekend I hit every thrift store I could find looking for candlesticks and saucers. They were SUPER simple to make.

The next day I sprayed the stands with frosted glass spray to prep them for painting. When the frosted layer dried I sprayed them with colored paint. While making these I learned a couple of things I should share. Two great uses for one bargain buy? And. How to Make a Three-Dimensional Wall Hanging. Ready to craft? This project is so easy, anyone can do it. Before you start making excuses, let me tell you, I’d never painted before. Never used acrylics or done art on canvas. I can hardly even draw a straight line. Now that your excuses are gone, pick your colors and your theme and let’s get started! Need some ideas? Use different kinds of sticks. Maybe leave off the bird and use butterflies. This project should take two days. Day 1, Step 1 in creating your own three-dimensional wall art: Paint your canvases with some acrylic paint.

Step 3: If you plan to use an additional color on your canvases (I mixed some white and light grey to make the moon) you can go ahead and add that. I recently got a sweet little treat in the mail from the stylist and designer Lynn Butler. They were pieces of felt fabric made into the shape of Christmas “crackers” and filled with sweet treats. They looked easy to make and thought I’d deconstruct it for you. Here’s the felt fabric opened (revealing the sweet surprises inside). There is a diamond pattern shape cut into the fabric, but I also think a simple rectangular strip cut along each edge could also suffice if cutting a diamond pattern is too complicated.

Fill the fabric with whatever gift you want and then roll. And close it all up with a thin rubber band at the end. Instant Christmas Cracker treat. Reusing Lightbulbs: as planters or mini terrariums. Sewing Published on November 21st, 2011 | by Julie Finn Out of all of my mom friends with kids who attend schools, I don’t know any of them who have their children buy the school lunch. They say it’s pretty pricey, for one thing, and it’s certainly not nutritionally superior or better tasting than lunch brought from home, and so my friends pack their kids’ lunches.

Even my little gang of homeschooled girls have their own lunchboxes, and although they don’t eat in a school cafeteria daily, they do eat a packed meal several times a week–breakfast in the public library one day, lunch at the creek another day, dinner in the car on the way to gymnastics on Thursdays, etc. Here at CAGW, we’ve been sewing our own cloth dinner napkins for a while (check out Becky’s DIY cloth napkin tutorial for a good example). The most important (and most fun!) Iron your fabric, then lay both pieces out on your cutting table, right sides together. Are you staring at the rubber band on my sewing machine?

DIY Faux Curled Rosewood Wreath {Made From Rolled Recycled Book Pages} I have seen various versions of Faux Rosewood Wreaths in just about every store and catalog for the upcoming season; most with a price tag running upwards of $40 or more. Some are crafted of paper and other of real wood shavings. Last year I made a few rolled flower gift toppers from recycled book pages and they remind me so much of the curled wood roses I thought they would make a good substitute. {with a much lower price tag} Materials Needed:Foam Wreath FormRecycled Book PagesLots of Hot GlueRibbon to Hang The full step by step tutorial I posted last year can be found {here}.Basically you layer three book pages together and draw a spiral circle.

Inspired Entertaining: DIY Chalkboard Wine Glasses. Last month I got an email from one of those "deal of the day" websites featuring a very cute set of wine glasses with chalkboard stems from a company called Chalkboard China. I've seen chalkboard glasses before, and always thought them to be a fun and chic way for guests to keep track of their glass throughout the night so you don't end up with mixed-up glasses or dozens of half-full glasses left around the house.

But all the ones I've seen in stores feature a strip of chalkboard paint across the bowl of the glass, which I've always felt looks awkward and takes away from the beauty of the wine or beverage in the glass. What I like about this version is that the writing part is at the bottom on the stem and foot of the glass, so it doesn't compete with the beverage. I also like that the simple black foot on the glass is in itself an elegant design element, and would work just as well with no writing on it. So I figured, "I can totally make that myself!
