When Tyler Hicks says that he has just witnessed what may have been the “thickest fighting in a single day” that he has ever experienced, with the “most firepower — coming and going,” he is describing extraordinary hostilities. As a war photographer, Mr. Hicks has covered Kosovo, Chechnya, Congo, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been in Libya for two weeks. We spoke with him Wednesday after he had photographed the fighting around Ras Lanuf, a rebel stronghold that is now under attack by forces loyal to Col. Les prix du pétrole se sont une nouvelle fois envolés mercredi 2 mars, le baril de référence gagnant 2,60 dollars à 102,23 dollars alors que les affrontements se poursuivaient entre l'opposition et le pouvoir en Libye , faisant craindre pour la production du pays. A la mi-journée, les Bourses mondiales chutaient tandis que le dirigeant libyen, dans un discours fleuve, indiquait que la production pétrolière dans son pays était "au plus bas" . De son côté, le directeur général du groupe pétrolier Royal Dutch Shell, Peter Voser , a assuré que des hausses de prix du pétrole allaient se poursuivre à court terme, mais que les pays exportateurs de pétrole feraient le nécessaire pour stabiliser le marché à plus long terme.
