Pearltrees Gives Itself A Visual Refresh With New Customization Options, Major Redesign Coming Soon

The update introduces a visual refresh with full-screen images that now automatically appear as backgrounds for all of your pearltrees – the mind map-like tree structures that you use for organizing your collections on the site. While the service previously featured a very abstract representation of the bookmarks, images, texts and other items you save on the site, the new version now shows you more realistic ‘pearls.”

A pearl, the company says, now “presents a view of what it contains, making what’s inside immediately recognizable.” This, as Pearltrees co-founder and CEO Patrice Lamothe puts it, “conveys more emotion and more information at a glance as people explore their libraries.” Pearltrees Launches its Boticelli Version with Visual Enhancements. Two weeks ago, Pearltrees, the visual content curation application released its brand new version, called “Boticelli”, with the addition of graphically enhanced backgrounds that illustrate each Pearltree.

The Pearls themselves have been modified, now users can have a view of the content of each pearl, which make it easier to navigate and select the pearl with the most relevant content. Additional new features include reusable image galleries, improved zooming capabilities and better image formatting. Pearltree is even more visual than before and I encourage you to try it for yourself, as reading about this highly immersive features is not enough to get a sense of what this application is capable of. Pearltrees beautifies curation with Botticelli. Pearltrees is routinely used to embed data related to a particular topic in a way that is easy to navigate.

The platform - which went live in 2009 - currently counts more than two million active users and over 50 million pearls, which can best be described as pieces of digital content. Today, Pearltrees is rolling out Botticelli, which company spokesperson Oliver Starr told TG Daily can best be described as a new version of the platform that transforms organized collections into beautiful illustrated libraries. "Pearltrees users will now have beautiful full screen backgrounds that illustrate each pearltree, making the product more beautiful and easier to navigate. The new backgrounds provide context for each pearltree, resulting in much more immersive navigation from interest to interest," he explained.

"Highly realistic pearls now allow users to play with and dive into content in an entirely new way. The new release is available immediately for the iPad and iPhone as well as on the web. Available on iPad and iPhone for free, the app “transforms organized collections into beautiful illustrated libraries.” The self-proclaimed largest collaboratively library is currently home to 50 million web pages organized into 6 million pearltrees. Pearltrees also had a premium version for $4.99, which they rolled out last October. The release, which will come soon, will include an overhaul to the design and interface including full screen backgrounds, more realistic pearls, and a suite of customization tools (reusable images, galleries, improved zooming, etc.). Here’s what Pearltrees CEO and Co-Founder Patrice Lamothe said of the release: Pearltrees s’offre une refonte graphique.
