Build a 15,000 rpm Tesla Turbine using hard drive platters

In the Tesla Turbine, air, steam, oil, or any other fluid is injected at the edge of a series of smooth parallel disks. The fluid spirals inwards and is exhausted through ventilation ports near the center of the disks. A regular blade turbine operates by transferring kinetic energy from the moving fluid to the turbine fan blades. In the Tesla Turbine, the kinetic energy transfer to the edges of the thin platters is very small.

Instead, it uses the boundary layer effect, i.e. adhesion between the moving fluid and the rigid disk. $20 CNC Machine. How I Built a DIY Kindle

But I wanted a device that had full color and a higher-resolution display and that didn't limit the content you can view on it. So instead of shelling out $300, I decided to make my own version using a tablet PC -- basically a computer with a stowable keyboard (or no keyboard at all) that you mainly control with a stylus and touchscreen. It doesn't have the long battery life or always-on connection for downloading books and magazines that the Kindle offers, but with a few system tweaks and the addition of some free software, it does everything else the Kindle does. Plus, unlike Amazon's gadget, it lets me read any comic book or magazine in color, and doesn't require an extra fee to read blogs and download PDFs. Things got worse once we got a washer and dryer, because the hookups were in the tiny kitchen. In order to allow for comfortable dining space for three, it turned out that we needed to position the table up against one corner of the room. If we had a rectangular dining table, then someone would always have to sit at the pointy end of the table. If we had a round or oblong table, it would also be rather awkward.

The solution was to build a new (funny shaped) table from scratch. I then went and gathered materials for the table top.
