A Reference Of Female-Fronted Punk Rock: 1977-89 (Part 1/3) This is a pretty insane project put together by my pal Vince B. from San Francisco a few years back. As the title indicates, this is a homemade 12 x CD-R (!) Compilation of punk bands fronted by female vocalists from 1977 to 1989. More like a giant mixtape than a compilation, as he only made 36 copies which he sent to friends and people who submitted material. You may notice that some of the bands didn’t have a steady female vocalist (The Lewd, etc.) but he still included songs that were sung by another member of the band. This is as international as it gets, with stuff ranging from world famous Blondie or Crass to the most obscure Eastern European cassette compilation veterans.
The boxset came packaged in a handnumbered fancy translucent lunchbox enclosing all 12 CD-Rs, a stack of full-colored cards featuring comprehensive tracklist and artwork/info, as well as a manga pin-up figure! 1. Whilst dickin’ around late last night, I tried to find an old website of mine hosted on the now-outdated University of Kentucky student server, since it had a lot of rad photographs of mine to upload on my new Tumblr page. Said website also featured a lot of various writing I had done during my freshman year in college, including an analytical piece I wrote for one of my English classes. I decided to keyword this paper to try to locate the old website. To my astonishment, I found that a number of different people – on websites, in other college papers, and even on Wikipedia – had cited this piece I wrote back in 2003 called Brainwashing, Misanthropy, and Society: an Analysis of Boards of Canada’s Geogaddi.

The John Lennon / Paul McCartney boot A Toot and a Snore in ‘74 has something of an infamous reputation. I’d read or heard about it somewhere and thought it sounded sort of interesting in a bizarre way.
I didn’t expect to find it and be able to listen to it anytime soon, so I just moved on. I’m going to turn the mic over to Wikipedia at this point for a description of what A Toot and a Snore is all about: A Toot and a Snore in '74 is a rare bootleg album of the final recording session in which John Lennon and Paul McCartney played together, which gained wider prominence when McCartney made reference to the session in a 1997 interview. For the most part, Lennon is on lead with his guitar, while McCartney sings harmony and plays drums. Open Culture. King Tubby. O produtor Bunny Lee foi quem inaugurou, mais tarde, o hábito de colocar no lado B dos singles a versão, inundando o som (a maneira de King Tubby) com muitas massas e ecos de ressonância.A maior parte dos proprietários dos velhos sound-systems continuaram em Kingston, conseguindo superar, com maior ou menor dificuldade, os períodos de confrontos políticos, de menores vendas de discos, ou interdição de bailes. Przeżył piękny wiek. Miał 102 lata. Studiował chemię na Uniwersytecie w Zurychu. Zajmował się głównie biochemią. Pracował naukowo nad budową chityny, z czego się doktoryzował. Następnie został zatrudniony w dziale farmaceutyczno-chemicznym koncernu farmaceutycznego Sandoz (obecnie Novartis). Hofmann przez całe dekady bronił swego wynalazku. Do domu wrócił na rowerze. Trzy dni po pierwszym eksperymencie z zażyciem LSD, Hofmann spróbował większej dawki. Hofmann i jego współpracownicy mieli nadzieję, że ich wynalazek wniesie ogromny wkład w psychiatrię, zwłaszcza w diagnozowanie i leczenie schizofrenii. Rząd USA zakazał sprzedaży LSD w 1966 roku, wkrótce podobne decyzje podjęły inne kraje.
