Allegaeon launches video for “Metaphobia”

In anticipation of this trek, Allegaeon has now launched a new video for “Metaphobia” – taken from their latest album, Apoptosis. Directed and filmed by Matthew Zinke, “Metaphobia” can be viewed below. Tracked at Flatline Audio in Denver with long-serving producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage), Apoptosis is Allegaeon’s fifth full-length, and the first to feature bassist Brandon Michael.

“Musically, Brandon brings a huge new dimension,” vocalist Riley McShane enthuses. “He has this wide breadth of music knowledge and stylistic proficiency that he draws from with excellent taste, and this makes a lot of the songs on ‘Apoptosis’ come to life.” I would take a step back and see if that idea fit the song and decide if it was worth keeping. The Colorado natives deliver a musically complex, intelligent, and absorbing sound that can rightfully sit alongside the true greats of the genre. Lauded for their extreme technicality and capacity for writing music of truly epic scale, the band embody the term ‘progressive’ more than most, with their current release, Proponent For Sentience featuring orchestral movements and even throat singing! With a new album “Apoptosis” just released last month and their inclusion on an Australian run of shows with Ne Obliviscaris, Caligula’s Horse, Beyond Creation and Rivers Of Nihil in May, there was much to talk about as we chat to vocalist Riley McShane about it all. Steve: Hey Riley how are you today?

Riley: I’m doing great man! Steve: So how does it feel to have the new album out? Riley: (laughs) Oh course man it’s called “Apoptosis” and it’s awesome. Steve: Great! Talking tour with ALLEGAEON. Listen to the interview below or on Spotify and iTunes Podcast: Ne Obliviscaris’ tour of Australia is the dream tour that any band would love to put together.

One of those bands on the bill is Colorado based death metal outfit Allegaeon whose current album Apoptosis has won over a legion of new fans. HEAVY Mag recently caught up with Allegaeon’s vocalist Riley McShane to find out about the tour and their brand new album. “We’ve toured with Ne Obliviscaris twice before,” says McShane as we chat about how they got added to this awesome line-up. “Ne Obliviscaris as a band bring something really special to the table,” he explains as talk turns to their touring mates.
