Polar Bear Club To Take Annual Chilly Coney Island Dip. The Coney Island Polar Bear Club continued its New Year's tradition with a swim in the Atlantic Ocean.
The club gathered at the Boardwalk near Stillwell Avenue Saturday morning for its annual dip. Though temperatures were higher than usual for New Year's Day, the Polar Bears said it the water was still plenty cold and invigorating. "The air is warm, but the water is cold, so that's perfect. It's a nice blue sky. We get a good crowd, a lot of energy.
