Evernote Business launches in seven countries to bring collection, discovery and sharing to teams. 4 December '12, 02:41pm Follow Following its debut back in August, Evernote CEO Phil Libin has taken to the stage at LeWeb ’12 to announce the launch of Evernote Business, an extension of the company’s core service for small and medium-sized business, featuring improved data continuity, better group sharing and easier user on-boarding. Evernote Business is now immediately available in France, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Canada, Japan, and the US. Priced at $10 per user per month, the business-focused service expands Evernote’s standard and premium offerings with Business Notebooks for separating personal and work documents, a Business Library for collecting Business Notebooks shared by individuals, team sharing with flexible permission settings, related notes discovery, a centralized Admin Console and higher storage allowances.

As we hinted above, this isn’t a new app, but rather a special addition which pushes Evernote as the perfect tool for both work and personal needs. No Facebook Account Required: Facebook Messenger For Android Lets You Sign Up With Just A Phone Number. Today Facebook announced its first-ever product open to people without a Facebook account. Starting now, the Messenger for Android app, and later its iOS counterpart, will allow signups from non-Facebook users with just a name and phone number. Facebook seems to have realized the limited reach of Messenger as is and wants to let you message your contacts whether or not they’ve joined Facebook. The rollout of Messenger for non-Facebook users begins today with the Android app in a limited set of countries, including India, Australia, Indonesia, Venezuela, and South Africa but will reach the rest of the world shortly. Messenger for iOS will also take signups with just a phone number and name eventually, but Facebook doesn’t have a timetable for when.

When non-Facebook users sign up, the app will suck in their contacts. Making product available to non-users is a bold but humble move for the company. At first glance this might seem to signal the end of Facebook’s high-growth startup phase. Charity: water receives $5 million grant from Google. Soundcloud Revamps Site, Announces New Numbers: 180M Users A Month And Counting. It’s been a while since we heard new user numbers from the “YouTube of audio” startup Soundcloud (though not much of a startup these days), so LeWeb in Paris was as good a time as any to announce them.

They’ve hit a market ‘reach’ of 180 million users a month across mobile and web platforms and re-vamped the site with the ‘next’ version after testing out their open Beta for several months. Coming with the revamp is improved search, recommendation, and sharing. Co-founder Alex Ljung announced on stage that the future of Soundcloud would be mobile, and that makes sense given how much we are able to record now with mobile devices. Over 10 hours are uploaded every minute, said Ljung. He went on to announce that its tracks are shared, listened to, or uploaded by 180 million users every month – or around 8 percent of the Internet population. The question is will these numbers be enough for Souncloud’s investors? Also the service lets users share their travels with friends in real-time, immediately uploading their track and multimedia to the Livetrekker’s cloud.
