Neill, (17 octobre 1883 - 23 septembre 1973) était un pédagogue libertaire[1],[2] écossais. Il est le fondateur, en 1921, de l'école de Summerhill qu'il « dirigea » jusqu'à sa mort. Il fut alors remplacé dans sa tâche par sa seconde épouse jusqu'en 1985, puis par sa fille Zoe Readhead qui est l'actuelle directrice de l'école. Biographie[modifier | modifier le code] Jeunesse[modifier | modifier le code] Alexander Sutherland Neill naquit le 17 octobre 1883 à Forfar en Écosse dans une famille de treize enfants dont plusieurs moururent en bas-âge[m 1].
La famille était peu aisée, et peinait à payer les études universitaires de Willy, le fils ainé. Pendant la guerre, il trouve un poste d'instituteur et remet en question l'autorité et les punitions. Après-guerre, il fait la connaissance de Homer Lane et commence une analyse avec lui. Le pionnier des années 1920[modifier | modifier le code] A.S. A.S. Norman Cornett. Norman Cornett is a religious studies course lecturer in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, dismissed without explanation from his post at McGill University in the spring of 2007, possibly for his unorthodox teaching methods.[1] Former National Film Board of Canada (NFB) producer Robert Verrall, an invited guest participant in some of Cornett's classes, created a petition demanding that McGill explain its actions, which was signed by 13 Canadian filmmakers and published in the Montreal Gazette on June 15, 2007.
Lawyers and academics including Julius Grey and Yakov M. Rabkin published an opinion piece in Le Devoir on July 11, also demanding an explanation from McGill.[2][3] University provost Anthony Masi replied that there had been no irregularities in the decision to let Cornett go.[4] Peter Leuprecht, former Dean of the McGill University Faculty of Law and one of the signatories of the Le Devoir piece, said that “It is not good that there are all kinds of suspicions circulating.
