SimaPro, can handle very advanced inventory techniques, but is at the same time very easy to use and understand; novice users can really make things simple. There is even a dedicated LCA wizard that lets you define your data model, by answering a series of questions. SimaPro comes with very large and up to date datasets.

EnergyScoreCards Minnesota is seeking multifamily building owners to receive up to two years of free access to the EnergyScoreCards tool—an online service to help reduce utility spending and consumption of multifamily building. This opportunity is available in select utility service territories. Participants will also receive information about energy savings programs and opportunities. The goal of the two-year pilot project is to understand the impact of utility benchmarking - comparing building performance with similar buildings—and tracking energy and water use over time at multifamily buildings.

BETHESDA, MD— Lithium (Li-ion) batteries, used to power plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, show overall promise to “fuel” these vehicles and reduce greenhouse gas emissions but there are a few areas for improvement to reduce possible environmental and public health impacts, according to a “cradle to grave” study of advanced Li-ion batteries conducted by Abt Associates for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The study, carried out through a partnership with EPA, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Li-ion battery industry, and academicians, was the first life cycle assessment (LCA) to bring together and use data directly provided by Li-ion battery suppliers, manufacturers, and recyclers.
