Posted: Olegas Truchanas and Peter Dombrovskis were two of Australia’s greatest wilderness photographers. Their work became synonymous with campaigns to protect Tasmania’s natural heritage. From the 1950s to the 1980s, Olegas and then Peter, used photography to try and encourage Australians to recognise the value of the natural world around them. Their philosophy was simple and remarkably effective - if people could see the beauty of Australia’s wild places then they might be moved to protect them. Olegas is renowned for his slide presentations which, over 20 years, brought ever-increasing attention to the island’s unique landscape. Lifestyle We will never tire of the positive effects of nature. Its calming, soothing and inspiring influence will never go out of style. The more we rush, the more time we spend indoors staring at our screens and devices, the more urban our lifestyles become, the more we crave and need time away from it all. It has been amazing to follow the newest solutions to the old dilemmas: How to bring more green space to cities; how to reclaim underused urban land for recreational and other "green" uses; how to provide more and more people the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature. Lately, we have seen fantastic examples of how designers and architects, urban planners and citizens' organizations have accomplished both large and small-scale projects, from bringing a bit of greenery, and open space to otherwise bleak surroundings, to large-scale neighborhood-changing undertakings.

From the date it was taken, I guess this is a scanned photo. Anyway, nice composition. water from iceland, a photo from Eyjafjardharsysla, Nordhurland Eystra

While heavy fog can be a major nuisance, making it nearly impossible to drive, for a photographer it can be a godsend, like nature's perfect gift. Terence Chang, who you may remember from those long exposure shots of planes taking off, has worked his magic again. This time he shows us parts of San Francisco and Sausalito beautifully blanketed in fog. When I asked Chang why he enjoys taking photos of fog, here is what he told me.
