Thai culture in Bangkok

http://www.1stopbangkok.com/culture Thailand is a country with rich cultural history and refined traditions, and is well known for its individuality and uniqueness. Thai culture has been passed down through the centuries, starting from the early Lanna period through to the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods to the current ‘glorious era’ of Rattanakosin. Bangkok, as the capital during some of the Kingdom’s most prosperous eras, is seat to some of Thailand’s finest cultural sites, which form one of the highlights of visit to the city. The explosion of colour that makes up Thai culture includes graceful classical dance, traditional music, beautiful costumes, striking architecture, as well as Buddhism, art, and a long tradition of handicraft. They can all be seen in most tourist places in Thailand. Perhaps one of the most memorable cultural norms in Thailand is the gracious gesture of the wai greeting; akin to praying hands.

10 things NOT to do in Thailand

the things i see a lot of (up in chiang rai or down in bangkok) are: girls with everything hanging out. by this i mean thin, low cut, strapped tops. it's not on, girls! look around at thai women and see how they're dressed. the vast majority will have covered shoulders and no cleveage showing... as much as this can be sexy (and believe me there are plenty of women out here, for whom it is definitely NOT a good look), it is embarrassing to locals. if a thai women is wearing something like this, then 10:1 she's working in a bar trying to get farang in for a drink.
The Grand Palace - Bangkok’s number one attraction Bangkok itself is Thailand’s number one attraction, with its gaudy palaces, exotic pagodas and many regal sights. Even though it was only founded in the late 18 th century, it has been the centre of Siam and Thailand through several glorious eras that have resulted in all sorts of impressive sites.
