A blog (a portmanteau of the term web log ) [ 1 ] is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject. More recently "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited. MABs from newspapers , other media outlets, universities , think tanks , interest groups and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of Twitter and other " microblogging " systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into societal newstreams.

Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. [ 1 ] Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0 , and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content . [ 2 ] Furthermore, social media depend on mobile and web-based technologies to create highly interactive platforms through which individuals and communities share, cocreate, discuss, and modify user-generated content. It introduces substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities and individuals. [ 3 ] Social media differentiates from traditional/industrial media in many aspects such as quality, [ 4 ] reach, frequency, usability, immediacy and permanence. [ 5 ] There are many effects that stem from internet usage.

Funding is the act of providing resources , usually in form of money ( financing ), or other values such as effort or time ( sweat equity ), for a project , a person, a business, or any other private or public institutions. The process of soliciting and gathering fund is known as fundraising . Sources of funding include credit , donations , grants , savings , subsidies , and taxes . Fundings such as donations, subsidies, and grants that have no direct requirement for return of investment are described as " soft funding " or " crowd funding ". Funding that facilitates the exchange of equity ownership in a company for capital investment via an online funding portal as per the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (alternately, the "JOBS Act of 2012") (U.S.) is known as " hyper funding ".Epicure Foundation - $2000 Grant
Education - Aboriginal Studies
Aboriginal Studies 10–20–30 provides a conceptual framework for all learners to enhance understanding of the diverse Aboriginal cultures within their region, Canada and the world. The goal of Aboriginal Studies 10–20–30 is to increase the knowledge of the learner about the past, present and future of Aboriginal peoples. Students will examine how Aboriginal peoples are striving toward maintaining and promoting cultures and identities that reflect values based on respect for the laws of nature and a continual pursuit of balance among individuals, the family unit, the larger community and global community context. The term "Aboriginal" refers to First Nations, Métis and Inuit.Students learn nature's self-sustaining ways
Elise Stolte, Edmonton Journal Published: Monday, April 04, 2011 Grade 12 student Neikko Potts pulled out a finger-length tomato plant, cradled it with gentle hands and patted the roots down under new soil. The smell of tomato and damp dirt filled the tiny greenhouse, perched on top of a second-floor biology lab at Jasper Place Composite High School.Forest Gardening
I’ve long looked at vast school grounds, wondering how much food could be produced if there was will. I’ve had friends try to climb that hill to no avail, primarily falling apart on concern for maintenance and who’s going to do the work. Like many things in the food world, perhaps it just took some scale – Jasper Place High School being one of, if not the biggest in western Canada at 2400 students. Maybe it’s just time.

Aquaponics
A small, portable aquaponics system. The term aquaponics is a portmanteau of the terms aquaculture and hydroponic . Aquaponics / ˈ æ k w ə ˈ p ɒ n ɨ k s / or pisciponics is a sustainable food production system that combines a traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish , crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In aquaculture, effluents accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity for the fish. This water is led to a hydroponic system where the by-products from the aquaculture are broken down by nitrogen fixing bacteria , then filtered out by the plants as vital nutrients, after which the cleansed water is recirculated back to the animals. As existing hydroponic and aquaculture farming techniques form the basis for all aquaponics systems, the size, complexity, and types of foods grown in an aquaponics system can vary as much as any system found in either distinct farming discipline.
