Friday saw the long awaited and much leaked liberalisation decree. It is supposed to be the first step in the Crescitalia (“Grow Italy”) process that prime minister Mario Monti promised would follow his Salva Italia (“Save Italy”) austerity measures. He reckons that there are three obstacles to Italian economic growth: insufficient market competition, inadequate infrastructure and excessive bureaucracy. Al Qaeda nel Maghreb Islamico si è offerta di liberare Stephen Malcolm, un ostaggio con passaporto britannico e sudafricano, catturato lo scorso novembre in Mali, se Abu Qatada, attualmente virtualmente agli arresti domiciliari a Londra, dovesse essere estradato in Giordania. Anzi, al predicatore islamico, ritenuto il referente di Al Qaeda in Europa, che in Giordania finirebbe direttamente in galera per scontare un ergastolo inflitto per terrorismo, secondo AQMI, deve essere concessa la possibilità di scegliere un Paese investito dalla primavera araba o comunque un Paese di suo gradimento.
