The app store is loaded with options that allow students to create content on their iPads. From comic strip creators to mind maps, video editing and publishing, screencasting & digital books, the options for individual student creation are expanding. iPad Two Year Old takes to the iPad like a fish to water! So cute! The two year old above compared to David Letterman - what more is there to say? Getting Started with iPad
To this day I remain a big fan of the overhead projector. I truly believe it was more effective a tool for teaching than the projected Powerpoint slides will ever be. I stood facing the students, watching their expressions, which I could see since the lights were sufficiently bright.

Updated 01/2014 If I had thirty iPads in my class, what would I do with them? How would I use them to help my students learn better and help me teach better? Perhaps a better question is what would I do with them that I could not do with other tools that are available and cheaper?
Apple's handheld and tablet devices can be valuable for teaching and learning. An iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone can be so many things: a camera, a book, a canvas, a calculator, a timer, a reference, a notebook, an audio recorder, a word processor, a camcorder, a video editing station, a videoconferencing device, a movie player, a scanner, a student response system, an instrument, a flash drive, a presentation station, and much more.
iPad in every TEACHER’S hand | Opening Doors and Turning On Lights cc licensed ( BY SD ) flickr photo shared by Tsubaki Kaworu I recently got an iPad 2. Well, I should say my wife recently got one that I have claimed as my own. Being an Apple guy myself, I was prepared for most of what it had to offer, but was pleasantly surprised by many features I didn’t expect. As I played I found that the iPad, in combination with Google Apps, the iOS5 software upgrade, Dropbox, and Diigo, served MANY purposes for me as a classroom teacher, and it got me thinking… I have been in on conversations about the validity and affordability of setting up every student with an iPad or other tablets.

Educational Origami is a blog and a wiki, about 21st Century Teaching and Learning. This wiki is not just about the integration of technology into the classroom, though this is certainly a critical area, it is about shifting our educational paradigm. The world is not as simple as saying teachers are digital immigrants and students digital natives. In fact, we know that exposure to technology changes the brains of those exposed to it. The longer and stronger the exposure and the more intense the emotions the use of the technology or its content evokes, the more profound the change.
