Where to start ... with my recent relocation to the gastown neighborhood, it is the community of creative individuals that have drawn me in and helped me find my new love for Vancouver. Immediately from street scape PROVIDE HOME caught my eye. A sophisticated white interior complimented with local fir paneling and a unique custom line of fir furniture. A modern interior that features unique home accessories from some of my favorites: beautiful modern pottery from Rina Menardi to hand blown glass light fixtures from Niche Modern , to glass candle holders from Laurence Brabant, Paris, or the glass collection from Anna Torfs or Lawrence. For those who appreciate the art of Pottery, each of the pieces produced by Rina Menardi are sculptural pieces, seeing them in context with modern furniture will give you a good sense of how they compliment modern interiors, even the family at Inform Interiors showcases them in their B&B Italia room settings.

An ancient and likely sensible architectural building code advises that we should not build castles on sand. But the bold contemporary Peruvian architects Vertice Arquitectos seem unconcerned. This utterly open and gorgeous beach house at at Palillos beach is the result, with its floors and walls and even rudimentary furniture seemingly grown out of sand rock itself. By reflecting back the trees on the sidewalk, the mirrored windows on the back of this house create the impression of an apparently empty wall with windows looking through to a forest instead of into a solid house. The forest apparently captured in the house on the street side of this innovative home from Djuric Tardio Architectes is the first of many delights in this charming eco home in the French suburbs. Uncluttered and simple, the roof deck offers a wide open vista on the tight space, as well as a row of skylights that provide passive warmth for the house inside.

The No. 216 sideboard, by Swedish designer Jesper Ståhl for Voice , is one sleek piece of storage furniture. The idea behind the design was for the door compartments to correspond to the A-series paper standards that are used worldwide. A0 (square meter) being the size of the whole unit and all the way down to A8 (74 mm x 53 mm), the smallest door on the unit. The doors are various shades of green giving it a bright, fun feel while the body of the unit and the legs are made of ash veneer.
