Beneath the Iron Sky
Iron Sky opens today in several countries. To celebrate the occasion and looking back at the production, here's some work I did for the film along the way. I joined the production in 2007 when I was commissioned to do concept art for the first teaser . The Zundapp scene needed some visual development and I provided concepts for the surrounding landscape and accompanying structures. In 2008 I started working fulltime on the film. One of the first tasks was to concept how the space battles in the film would look and feel like.David Desplat's sketchbook

The reason for that was, there simply wasn’t a lot of information available on the web, and I wanted to include the name of the designer under some of the ship designs that appeared on the show.

Paypal Founder Peter Thiel Invests $1.25 Million to Create Floating Micro-Countries | Inhabitat - Green Design Will Save the World
Peter Thiel is known for having big ideas before everyone else - he launched Paypal, funded Facebook, and is now interested in building his very own start-up countries in the far off, open ocean . The self-made billionaire is working closely with the Seasteading Institute to create sovereign nations in international waters, free from the laws of any country. A well known Libertarian, Thiel suggests these islands may be instrumental in “experimenting with new ideas for government.” One theory implements libertarian ideals such as no welfare, no minimum wage, looser building codes, and fewer weapons restrictions.Concept artist Link Collection
A few images to get the website started. More to come. A fantastic project that never saw the light of day. The first image was the final resulting image. Those that follow were what lead up to it. Was trying to establish a “unique” look for this CG animated proposal.

I did the tilable geometry, using 3dsmax, importing my mesh decimated, and duplicating it on max on both sides, that way i can see where my texture tile and crop my texture after the baking. (you can see this process on the wall for ex) Sebcesoir: pourriez vous expliquer comment vous avez procédé pour les dunes de sables? For the sand, i used multiple sand textures composed in photoshop to make them tile, then i used crazybump, to generate me a displace map from that texture. This technique only gives me a tilable base for my sculpt. I then apply this base on a zbrush plane, and resculpt it with wrap mode.
