WVIL camera. MIT's Light Speed Camera Snaps a Trillion Frames per Second. Slow-motion video has already shown us so much about how bullets make fruit explode, how birds fly, and how lizards run on water. Now video can capture a streak of traveling light. A team from the MIT media lab has created a camera system that can capture a trillion-frames-per-second and visualize the speed of light. To produce a video that captures moving photons, the scientists used a streak camera, which is normally used to measure light in intensity and duration (time). A streak camera, however, reduces a scene into a single-dimensional slit by deflecting protons with an electrical field, ao the video is actually a combination of trillions of slit images. All of the images were taken through a single lens connected to a box that contains 500 camera sensors.

The scene itself is a pulse light source directed by mirrors into an empty soda bottle (seriously). [MIT News and MIT Media Lab] Like this? CES - Samsung's Smart Window. FPD: Samsung, LG show flexible OLED, e-paper displays.

Step aside Arduino, TinkerForge is the new sheriff in mod-town (video) Startup Tinkerforge presents modular open source hardware Developing, discovering, learning and tinkering made easy. The new system of hardware building blocks from Tinkerforge allows to plug sensor and actor modules together and to program the desired behavior of the modules without prior knowledge in hardware programming. The building blocks can be used professionally or as a hobby for the automation of processes or for the development of prototypes.

Users will be surprised how simple it is to e.g. control a robot with this system. A developer can build a system out of modules that are suitable for his application. The modules can be controlled from a PC, mobile phone or tablet. The core of the new system are so called Bricks. The Tinkerforge GmbH is a German Startup.
