Sadly we have to take out our old BD & Co 7Kw Original Cottager, the plinth it was on took up too much room in the lounge.The best option was an inset stove but what a minefield! The room size is 4.5M x 4.9M x 2.3M. The calculations show that we need 3.9Kw but 5.9Kw to be on the right side plus a little to spare if the central heating packs up again.
The Cottager was a lifesaver over winter! We've had several quotes and all the installers would like to put a Riva in. We've looked at both the 40 and the 55 and feel that the 40 is too small and has little prospect of keeping in overnight. The 55 seems the right size dimensionally but overpowering in output. We wanted to preserve the feel of the old house we bought, but not live in a museum. Saving the old woodwork was obvious, but we wanted to give the old coal-burning stove a modern and discrete style.
