Love, Korean-style: Two’s company. 이통사 '보이스톡' 차단 사실상 허용. 이동통신사들의 '보이스톡'차단이 사실상 허용됐다. 방송통신위원회는 13일 서울 양재동 교육문화회관에서 정책토론회를 갖고 통신사와 인터넷서비스사업자(ISP) 사이에 논란을 빚고 있는 망 중립성 문제와 관련, 이 같은 방안을 제시했다. 그 동안 보이스톡 같은 모바일인터넷전화(mVoIP) 등을 제공하는 서비스 사업자들은 통신망은 공공재인 만큼 누구나 차별 없이 접근할 수 있으며, 따라서 이동통신사는 어떤 경우라도 막아선 안 된다고 주장해왔다. 반면 이동통신사들은 망에 과도한 부하가 걸릴 경우 다른 서비스에 차질이 빚어질 수 있어, 차단하거나 대가를 지불해야 한다고 맞서왔다. 이와 관련, 방통위는 ▦보이스톡 같은 mVolP ▦각종 응용소프트웨어(애플리케이션) 및 ▦콘텐츠등에 대한 이동통신사들의 망 관리(트래픽 관리)를 사실상 허용키로 했다. 이 경우 mVoIP의 전면 허용은 사실상 물 건너가게 됐다. SK텔레콤과 KT 등 이동통신사들은 앞으로 1만~2만원 정도의 추가요금을 받고 mVoIP를 전면 허용하는 쪽으로 방통위의 의견조율 중이다. 한편 방통위가 이동통신사에 망 차단 권한을 부여한 것과 관련, 지나치게 자의적이고 포괄적이란 지적이 나오고 있다. 방통위의 입장에 대해 특히 서비스사업자들은 강력 반발하고 있다.
