Genentech gives back to SH and Community | Samaritan House Blog. Genentech gives back to SH and Community On Friday, June 17th, twenty-five gracious employees from Genentech came out to support Samaritan House for Genentech’s Volunteer Day. In the morning, half of the supporters gathered together in our warehouse to sort medications for recycling. SH pays for its recycling by weight, so shedding the packaging from the medications helped save money that can now be used to provide meals, doctor visits, and shelter for our families. The other half of the group spent the afternoon painting the common area of our shelter, Safe Harbor. Members of the Genentech community were encouraged to give back as part of Genentech Gives Back Week, a week which offers voluntary activities each day to give all employees a chance to make a difference in their communities.
