One of the most innovative permaculture courses in the world, this PDC is a project-based design course that includes a sequential, multiple-cycle design methodology. From PRI: “Our course is embedded in the neighborhood of Sellwood, where we grapple with urban transformation in a real context dealing with real people and social dynamics, challenges, and opportunities! Each session we explore a different ‘layer’ of the possibilities for neighborhood transformation and ‘block repair’.

We consider simple no-cost or low-cost interventions and small scale intensive systems that any neighborhood could implement in order to help transition our urban spaces into thriving social ecologies. If so, this day-long workshop should be of interest to you! Using animation can be a useful tool to explore and communicate complex ideas. As it is primarily visual, it can be used with a variety of groups and ages, and is a fun way to engage others on the issues that matter to you. Working with an experienced animator in small groups, you will brainstorm & develop a story, record sounds and create props and animate and edit your storyboard so that it can be uploaded and shared on-line. As we will use specialised equipment, the workshop is strictly limited to 12 participants – so to ensure your place fill in & return the attached booking form! If your group is like many others, you depend on your volunteers for many things. We've discussed how to recruit new volunteers, but once you've got them in the door, your work has only just begun. To help welcome new volunteers into the organization, some groups hold orientation programs to start new volunteers on the path of becoming seasoned veterans. What is an orientation program?
