Explore Countries of the World. Resource Wednesday - Reading. On Wednesdays I like to give a list of resources (either free or cheap) for homeschoolers and their parents. This week we're going to cover reading resources that I used to teach my daughter to read between the ages of 3 and 5. We've got a great list for you today. 1) Starfall Learn To Read - I love Starfall, and after I'd taught my daughter to recognize each letter and it's sound, we began using these Starfall books, which are interactive. Each day we do the two activities listed before the starfall story, followed directly by her reading the story, then we watch the video that comes after the story.

Sometimes it's slow going for her to get through one of these stories, but it's not boring for her because if she can't sound out a word, you click on it and it helps her sound it out, and also because if you click on different parts of the picture on each page, it moves and makes sounds. 6) Kindle Reading Games - Here are two games that have really helped my daughter with reading. Biblical_Geography_ Online Reader. Web Sites for the Little Ones: K-2. Web Sites for the Smaller Ones Pre K-2 ABCs - Take a tour through the alphabet Alfy - There's so many things for young children to do here. Alphabet Action - Click a letter to see a letter and hear its name.

Week 1 :: Canada - Day 1 | Around The World - HereWeAreTogether.com Home-Education Curriculum. Week 1 :: Canada - Day 1 Wow, this is exciting, eh? Today we start our journey across the world - from the comfort of our own homes!

We are starting in beautiful, amazing Canada, working our way across the map, so come aboard and get your passports ready, because we are ready to go! We are starting this week by reading the book M is for Maple, a beautifully illustrated book full of rhymes and facts about Canada. We looked at the map of Canada, read the names of the different provinces out loud and spoke about how many people live in Canada. (around 34.48 million). We then listened to the Canadian National Anthem O Canada and read the words. O Canada!

We looked at the Canadian flag. To make the maple leaf, paint your child's hand with non-toxic red paint. Print your little one's handprint onto the white card, pressing down gently but firmly to make sure the paint gets transferred evenly. Gently lift your child's hand off to reveal the handprint.
