Very Positive Reactions to Hunger Games Movie from Press Screening! Tribeca: Film Panel Sees Twitter as Promotional, Distribution Platform. Courtesy of the Sundance Film Festival Kevin Smith's "Red State" NEW YORK -- Now that movies are being distributed digitally through Facebook, with Warner Bros. recently starting to offer such titles as The Dark Knight and Inception, Hollywood will also eye other social media platforms, such as Twitter, for digital distribution.

That was one prediction, offered by Paramount Digital Entertainment president Tom Lesinski, at a panel entitled "Digital by Design" that took place as part of the Tribeca Film Festival here Tuesday. "I think the social media sites as real destinations for video consumption" will come into focus, Lesinski said when asked about predictions for the near future. He pointed to a recent app that his studio offered on Facebook that allowed consumers to download a recent Jackass film. "It's going to happen on places like Twitter," he predicted. How do you promote a movie that attempts to give a voice to the voiceless? This is the challenge that fell upon the makers and distributors of Bully, a documentary on childhood bullying that will hit theaters nationwide on Friday. My Baby. For some, that meant powering on their smartphones and iPads and telling all of their Twitter followers about the musical with the hashtag #hmbmusical. A growing number of theaters and performing groups across the country are setting aside "tweet seats," in-house seats for patrons to live-tweet during performances, including the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh, N.C., and the Dayton Opera in Dayton, Ohio.

Rick Dildine, the executive director for Shakespeare Festival St. Should Movie Theaters Make ‘Tweet Seats’ At Movie Screenings? Girl kicked out for texting leaves theater angry message. The Alamo Drafthouse Theater in Austin has long been known as a mecca for savvy moviegoers (or hipsters, however you want to call it), and one thing savvy moviegoers (and Latvians) hate is people talking or texting during the movie.

Girl kicked out for texting leaves theater angry message

As per theater policy, a girl was recently kicked out of the Alamo without refund for texting after she’d already been warned twice (no word on what movie it was). On her way home, the girl left the theater an angry voicemail message, saying “I’ve texted in all the other theaters in Austin, and no one ever gave a f*ck.” Alamo CEO Tim League correctly recognized this as perhaps the best free advertisement for his theater one could provide, and put it in the above video, which will now play at Alamo theaters as part of the “Don’t Talk or Text” PSA that runs before their movies.

“I will never be comin’ back to your ‘Alamo Drafthouse’ or whatever. I’d rather go to a reglear theater, where people are actually polite.” [AlamoDrafthouse, Picture source] Home.
