The recent lights out play of the Oakland Raiders, holding the Seahawks to three points and limiting Jay Cutler to under 200 passing yards deserve to get noticed. Their improving defense makes the already-not-so-impressive Matt Cassel a tough guy to start today. Kitna on the other hand will get a chance to throw to his heart's content.

NFL Fantasy Football Week 9: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Advice. Josh Freeman (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) @ Atlanta Freeman led another fourth quarter comeback in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals, and threw for 278 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions in the game. He has become a solid fantasy option in his second NFL season, as he has put up 12 or more fantasy points in all but one game this season and thrown just three interceptions all season.

In Week 9, Tampa Bay will take on the Atlanta Falcons, who have allowed over 300 passing yards and six passing touchdowns over their past two games. Falcons’ cornerback Dunta Robinson (concussion) may return this week, but how effective he can be is certainly up in the air and further enhances Freeman’s potential for nice numbers this week. Atlanta has intercepted 11 passes this season, but given Freeman’s ability to take care of the ball that may not be a big issue. He is a solid bye week replacement or low-end QB1 this week. TheDailyBlitz.com: Fantasy Football: Week 9 Wide Receiver (WR) Rankings. Yesterday we updated our fantasy rankings and here are some notes on wide receivers and passing defenses heading into Week 9: - Scoring for a fourth game in a row, Bengals receiver Terrell Owens has 31 receptions for 477 yards and five touchdowns during that span. - Packers receiver Greg Jennings has caught a touchdown in five of eight games. Over the past three weeks, Jennings has 18 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. This week, Donald Driver has said he won't play and the Cowboys secondary ... well, it seems like they are not playing.

. - Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker set a career high with 158 receiving yards in their win over the Cowboys. . - The Jaguars are one of six teams on a bye in Week 9. . - Titans receiver Randy Moss (or former Patriots receiver and former Vikings receiver) has gone 16 consecutive games (counting last year's playoff loss to the Ravens) without reaching 100 receiving yards. Here are the top ten fantasy wide receivers for Week 9: 1. EDSFootball.com | Fantasy Football: 2010 Quarterback (QB) Rankings - Week 1. Updated: Saturday, April 5, 2014 Scoring: These rankings are based on standard scoring (one point per 25 passing yards, four points per passing touchdown plus one point per 10 rushing/receiving yards and six points per rushing/receiving touchdown) and are for the 2014 season only. - For my dynasty QB rankings, click here. It would be hard to discuss the quarterback position without beginning the discussion with Denver's Peyton Manning.

Manning, a (now) five-time league MVP, broke the single-season records last year for both passing yards (5,477) and touchdowns (55) previously held by Drew Brees and Tom Brady, respectively. As dominant as Manning was with his record-setting full-season numbers, he was remarkably consistent and dominant on a weekly basis. Throwing a touchdown in every game this season, Manning had only one game (excluding the playoffs) with less than two touchdowns. In addition, he had more games (nine) with four or more touchdowns than he had with less than four scores. 1. TheDailyBlitz.com: Fantasy Football: Week 9 Quarterback (QB) Rankings. Yesterday we updated our fantasy rankings and here are some notes on quarterbacks and passing defenses heading into Week 9: - For a seventh straight week, Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb threw one (just one) touchdown.

What was different, however, was that McNabb was benched for Rex Grossman for the two-minute drill of the game. The Redskins, who are on a bye in Week 9, say that McNabb will be the starter when the Redskins face the Eagles on Monday Night in Week 10. - The other five teams on bye this week are: Denver (Kyle Orton), Tennessee (Vince Young), St. Louis (Sam Bradford), San Francisco (Troy Smith) and Jacksonville (David Garrard). - The Jets held Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to 170 yards and no touchdowns in Week 8.

. - In his past two games (Patriots and Bills), Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown for five touchdowns and no interceptions. . - Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will make his tenth Monday Night Football appearance this week. 1. Mason on Crowder: I was in the NFL when he was peeing on himself | ProFootballTalk.com. Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder and Ravens receiver Derrick Mason will meet on the field on Sunday after an entertaining week of going back and forth in the media. It started on Thursday, when Crowder was talking about the Ravens’ offense and said he couldn’t remember who the Ravens’ veteran receiver was. After a reporter told him he was thinking of Mason, Crowder said, “There you go.

Mason. The old guy.” When told that he was described in those terms, Mason at first took the high road and said that he’s proud to be a productive player in his mid-to-late-30s. “In the corporate world, I probably couldn’t even be somebody’s CEO because I’m too young,” Mason said. For the record, Crowder is 26 years old. “He’s what, 20-something?” Fantasy NFL Second Half Breakouts: Tashard Choice, Greene, James Jones and More. Everyone remembers Jamaal Charles and Jerome Harrison last year. They were probably not drafted or even owned the first month of the season, but they made the difference for many owners in the second half of the season. This is going to happen every year, players will explode the second half of the season. Predicting exactly who is very difficult, but I have my eye on a handful of guys that I like a lot. Some of these guys are owned in every league, others are owned in hardly any leagues.

Tashard Choice, RB, Dallas Cowboys The Cowboys' season is a disaster, but that doesn't mean it has to be a fantasy disaster. Choice was fantastic during the fantasy playoffs in his rookie season (2008) and the Cowboys have some very run friendly matchups down the road. Shonn Greene, RB, New York Jets Those who drafted Greene in the second- or third-round are very disappointed. Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers Another high draft pick that has been a disappointment this year.

Rookies that can produce are always a bonus because those are the guys that many owners are skeptical of starting weekly because they are more prone to mistakes and being less productive. NFL Fantasy Football Week 9: 7 Sleepers Who Will Help Win Your Matchup. Another week down, and another week that fantasy football owners have to rearrange lineups with the inordinate amount of injuries that have occurred this season. With the prolific producers further distancing themselves from the fantasy pretenders, it's become slim pickings on the waiver wire for most at this point in year. Having said that, it's the quality, not quantity, of options available, and here are 10 deep sleepers that could contribute in a big way for owners willing to gamble with big money. Jon Kitna, Dallas Kitna is anything but a sexy play, but if you're in a bind at the position, the aging veteran is well worth a look. Despite Dallas beginning the season 1-6, owners can bet that Kitna will keep airing it out so long as Tony Romo remains sidelined.

While he did throw an ugly four interceptions last week, his 379 yards are far too many to simply ignore in the majority of formats. Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Are you listening yet? Mike Tolbert, San Diego Chris Ivory, New Orleans. Week 9 NFL injury report updates on DeSean Jackson, Joseph Addai - Will Carroll. Soreness in Beanie Wells' surgically repaired knee is not a good sign for his long-term prospects. Harry How/Getty Images Marshall Faulk was Joseph Addai, once upon a time, but he never went through what Addai is going through now.

I got the chance to talk with Faulk this week as he was in town for not only the Colts-Texans matchup, but also to present a check to a local school as part of P&G's "Take It To The House" program. Faulk avoided injuries for most of his career, but he knows what it's like to prep for games. "When someone like Austin Collie or Dallas Clark goes down, you can't replace that," Faulk said. "You have to just show up to compete and hope that next guy does too. " The whole "next man up" philosophy sounds good in soundbites, but as he said, there's no way to replace the talent level of some players. I asked Faulk if he though the recent focus on concussions was valid or overblown from the player's standpoint. Sidney Rice/Percy Harvin Rice owners, don't get too excited. Fantasy Football: Week 9 NFL Player Breakdowns By Matchup. Week 8 of fantasy football lacked explosive stars and great matchups, as the usual top performers were held fairly in check. However, there were still some huge game-breakers (see: Detroit Lions), and there is always promise for a turnaround in the next week. Week 9 brings more optimism and even better fantasy matchups. Read on to see all of the fantasy matchups and player breakdowns for this week, along with player ratings: New York Jets @ Detroit Lions QB Mark Sanchez: Sanchez hasn’t done much for a few weeks now, and I don’t see him doing much more this week. ** RB Shonn Greene: Greene is getting touches here and there, but not enough to warrant a start unless you’re desperate RB LaDainian Tomlinson: This matchup isn’t the greatest with the Lions defensive line playing so well.

Fantasy Football Week 9: Power Ranking the Top 50 Point Magnets. TheDailyBlitz.com: Titans claim Randy Moss.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress described the trade for receiver Randy Moss, who was released yesterday, as "a bad decision," which is probably an understatement. Though plenty of teams were rumored to be interested in Moss, only one team -- the Tennessee Titans -- actually submitted a waiver claim. “If anyone can control Randy Moss and deal with Randy Moss it would be Coach Fisher, with how he approaches everything," fullback Ahmard Hall said, per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “Coach Fisher will sit down and talk to him and have a man-to-man talk about what he expects and how he sets the tone and the atmosphere here.

So I think he’ll fit right in. " The Titans have a bye in Week 9 so Moss will make his Titans' debut against the Dolphins in Week 10 when the Titans will be without receiver Kenny Britt. "They’re both getting better," Fisher said. "Kenny is not going to play against Miami, that’s all I know right now.
