Fantasy nfl - draft day 2012

Draft 2012 Rookies. Adrian Peterson Injury: What Do Fantasy Football Owners Need to Know? Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images Fantasy football owners of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson all let out a collective gasp on Sunday, as the perennial fantasy stud went down with a leg injury in the team's Week 11 contest against the Oakland Raiders that saw the star carted to the locker room. Luckily, X-rays showed no broken bones. However, an MRI on Monday confirmed what had already been feared: Peterson has a Grade 1 high ankle sprain that will require him to wear a boot this week.

Though Peterson may be able to participate in light activity on Friday, he won't be nearly healthy enough to play in his team's Week 12 game against the Atlanta Falcons, leaving his fantasy owners in the lurch for at least one week. However, Peterson's owners and fantasy GMs looking to capitalize on the back's injury shouldn't rush to add fellow Viking rusher Toby Gerhart. Other options include the Cleveland Browns' Chris Ogbonnaya, the Buffalo Bills' C.J. NFL Power Rankings Week 12: Grades for Every Team. Jay Cutler, Adrian Peterson the latest NFL fantasy stars to fall - David Sabino. Though a calf injury sidelined him for the end of the Bills' loss to Miami, Fred Jackson does not expect to miss his first game since 2007. The hits just kept in Week 11 as more quarterbacks hit the sidelines in what's been an injury-plagued 2011 NFL campaign, especially in the backfield. No fewer than 10 of the 28 teams in action during Week 11 started or finished their games with a signal-caller who began the year as a second-stringer.

And 11 of the 28 were forced by injury or lack of production to employ a different top running back at the end of Week 11 than they did in Week 1. These included popular first-overall selection Adrian Peterson, whose status for the upcoming contest against the Falcons is in question due to an ankle sprain. Likely gone for the season is Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who suffered a broken throwing-thumb in a win over the Chargers.

What's the word on Fred Jackson's injury? Carson Palmer or Alex Smith for rest of year? I need to pickup a wide receiver. Fantasy Football 2011 Week 4: Emergency Plug-and-Plays That Will Save Your Team. Rick Stewart/Getty Images Jason Campbell isn't a quarterback who will typically give you much of a fantasy boost, but this week against a pathetically horrid Patriots secondary, he is a great one-week emergency start -- especially with breakout Denarius Moore being likely joined by previously injured Jacoby Ford. Antonio Gates is doubtful for Sunday. Daniel Thomas is out. Frank Gore’s status is a total question mark. The list goes on.

What is a fantasy owner to do—especially if you are trying to claw your way back in a league where you’ve fallen behind the eight ball just three weeks into the season? Luckily, there are always players who are available who can plug the gap, stop the bleeding and make the winning difference on game day. Meet my Week 4 emergency starters. Kendall Hunter, RB, SF We all know that San Francisco is Frank Gore’s turf.

Gore is now listed as questionable for the Week 4 game versus an Eagles squad that is giving up fantasy points in bucketfuls to running backs. Fantasy football: Love/Hate matchups for Week 4. For those who have been playing fantasy football for a while, it’s common knowledge that Week 4 is one of the most crucial weeks in the season. After this game, almost all of us will be just two or three weeks away from the midpoint of our campaign. Because of that, except for owners who are 3-0, this almost is a must-win. No doubt 3-1 is worlds better than 2-0, while 1-3 or 0-4 is next to impossible to come back from, unless you’re in one of those goofy leagues where half (or worse, more than half) of the teams make the playoffs.

That’s why I like to call this “Separation Week.” As it becomes increasingly more obvious who the studs and duds are, it’s still very important to look at matchups between the not-so-obvious players. Is it time to sit Dwayne Bowe for a David Nelson, a guy who hardly anyone outside of Buffalo ever heard of three weeks ago? (Not yet.) Bottom line is, while of course every owner wants to win every time out, Weeks 4 through 6 usually are make or break. Fantasy Football: Week 4's Toughest Picks. Sure it's a cliche, but defense wins championships, even in fantasy football. And, although it's not easy getting a bunch of points from your defense every week, having one of the more consistent defenses in your league can give you a big advantage. That said, here are the Top Four defenses for Week 4. 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs Indianapolis Colts) Last week the Tampa Bay Bucs held the Atlanta Falcons to 13 points, and I think we can all agree that the Falcons have a more prolific offense than Indianapolis. The more dominating factor however, is that the game is in Tampa, and the Bucs' always play much better at home. As long as they don't get off to a slow start like their prone to, the Colts shouldn't match up.

Nonetheless, Tampa Bay will take advantage of all the Colts' injuries and keep their offensive production to a minimum. The Bucs don't win by a large margin, but the defense is in control the whole game. 3. J. 2. Who will have the best defense of Week 4? 1. Fantasy Football Week 4 Rankings: Wide Receivers. Going into the season, I expected a lot from Patriots receiver Wes Welker.

After all, one of my "bold" preseason predictions was that Welker would lead the NFL in receptions and finish the year with at least 110 of them after only catching 86 balls in 2010. Why 110 receptions? During the four years since Welker joined the Patriots, a player has finished with 110-plus receptions seven times. Only Welker, who has three 110-reception seasons, has reached that level more than once.

Four other players have had a season with 110 or more receptions one time in the past four seasons. Welker, who is an extra year removed from his torn ACL, is off to an incredible start, especially after last week's record-setting performance. On the season, Welker has 31 receptions for 458 yards and four touchdowns. So far, the Welker prediction is looking good. Here are some notes on wide receivers and passing defenses going into Week 4: —A lot was made of Chad Ochocinco's dropped touchdown pass last week. 1. The Real Sportz. Fantasy Football Draft Strategy: 25 Ways to Avoid Disaster. Andy Lyons/Getty Images Fantasy commodity number one? You'd have a rough idea now of how you wish your draft to proceed. You know (roughly) what positions you wish to hit, and when. You know what kind of players will score well in your league. You've already figured who is risky beforehand, either through existing injury, injury risk, inexperience or sheer temperamental nature. Now you have to make a list of all the available players likely to be targeted, and assign them a value based on the above. It's entirely up to you how you wish to do this, and probably depends a lot on league rules. But it would seem wise to break players down by position at the very least, and if you wish, within positions as to "type.

" You might like, for instance, to split possession receivers from speed wide receivers, or goal-line running backs from guys who will get a lot of touches as dual-purposes receiving backs. Once you have these categories, start assigning rankings. Fantasy Football Rankings 2011: Tracking the Latest Studs and Sleepers.
