" Sean Booth of Autechre spoke to blogger/designer Sheikh Ahmed just before the release of Autechre's 10th album for Warp Records entitled Oversteps . They discussed the album, touring, The X Factor and a recent solo collaboration. Autechre are considered to be one of the most innovative and respected practitioners of experimental dance music.
The duo Sean Booth and Rob Brown formed Autechre (pronounced "Aw-tek-er") in 1987 from their home town of Rochdale , Greater Manchester. Throughout the course of their 23 year career, they've moved from dance music that was directly inspired by their listening habits through a steady diet of electro, techno and hip-hop, to more recent work which gets ever more abstract and experimental in nature. They've just completed a worldwide month-long tour in support of the album, climaxing with a recent date in East London.

Er produzierte zunächst Filmmusik für den Cartoon-Sender Adult Swim, bevor er 2006 erstmals ein eigenes Stück auf der Compilation Sound Of LA von Carlos Niño veröffentlichte. Daraufhin nahm ihn das Label Plug Research unter Vertrag, auf dem noch im gleichen Jahr sein Debütalbum 1983 erschien.
Das Album war geprägt von Hip-Hop- und Free-Jazz-Einflüssen. 2007 wechselte Flying Lotus zum englischen Label Warp Records. Dort erschien ein Jahr später sein zweites Album Los Angeles.
