Hurricane Sandy 2012: Online pranksters spoof deadly superstorm with Titanic, Grease and shark send-ups. As the fierce weather-front continues to batter the north-east corner, it has already been subjected to widespread Photoshop work.

Dozens of Twitter users have pointed out that the storm shares a name with Olivia Newton-John's character from the 1978 movie Grease. Scroll down for video Too soon? Since being plunged into darkness by Hurricane Sandy, many Manhattanites have been forced to trek north of 39th Street to where there still is power in a desperate bid to charge their smart phones, iPads, Kindles and Nooks. Chase ATMs, branches of Duane Reade drugstores and in fact anywhere with a spare electrical outlet have become mass meeting points crammed full of people - some smart enough to bring extension cords - to power up their devices. We need power: Groups of people have flocked to Starbucks stores and other store branches in Manhattan in a bid to get wi-fi service after Hurricane Sandy hit on Monday. The reason for the split? Above 39th Street the power never went off. Early on Tuesday morning there were joggers in Riverside Park and dog walkers taking pets out for a stroll.

Below 39th Street: Debris is pictured on Bowery, one of the areas where the power went out New York's governor Andrew Cuomo has paid tribute to 'the courage of New Yorkers and the spirit of New yorkers and how New Yorkers really are at their best when things are at their toughest.'
