In many ways, it dwarfs individual people’s contributions for obvious reasons. Contrary to common perception, industries are not oblivious to their effects on the environment. Many are making a conscious effort to reduce their footprint by adopting and implementing measures to help ensure a brighter future for everyone. For over a decade, Lafarge Cement has partnered with WWF to make a difference in the industry and its impacts on the environment. Lafarge has been active in promoting local initiatives in partnership with WWF all around the globe, focusing on these key factors: Climate ChangePersistent pollutantsWater consumptionBiodiversity conservationSustainable construction In the Philippines, the partnership has worked in the sustainable construction work stream, utilizing tools such as Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to compare blended cement with traditional ordinary Portland cement (OPC).
