Shortlist announced for the North West Cambridge extension. In order to compete in an increasingly competitive global market and address long-term development needs, the University of Cambridge is undertaking an ambitious new urban extension in North West Cambridge. The master plan for the development, prepared by Aecom, lays out the framework for a new district centered on a mixed academic and urban community. With aspirations of achieving place that is well balanced, long-lasting and sustainable, the University is focused on creating a high quality of life for its residents that will enhance both the City and the University.

The University is now looking to appoint a number of architecture and landscape firms to design and deliver each proposed lot as part of the first phase of the extension. The shortlist consists of internationally renowned architects, including Bjarke Ingels Group and David Chipperfield Architects. Nomdedeu architectes with Michael Rousseau architecte and Adrian Maston graphiste. C. Colomès + f. Nomdedeu architectes with Michael Rousseau architecte and Adrian Maston have studied the evolution of cities and urban environments and have produced this research as to how one might design and create a sustainable urban development. This concept is based on a living condition that balances the urban environment with an agricultural environment.

This project focuses on the intersection of today’s cities with self-sustaining agricultural institutions that produce the necessary resources for an urban population. The Sustainable Urban Development is in favor of the intersections between the existing geography and city planning, focusing on bringing residents of a dense city closer to nature.

FoRM Associates won second prize in the international open competition for best urban landscape design of the central area of Kiev within the framework of preparation for UEFA Football Championship Euro-2012 and for the future.

The competition was promoted by the Kiev City State Administration and Kyiv Central Agency for Urban Planning, Architecture and Urban Design to draw attention of professionals and general public to the poor state of urban landscape in the central part of the city. Igor Marko and Petra Havelska presented FoRM’s proposal to the international jury and general public during the CANactions Architecture Festival in the House of Architects in Kiev.

FoRM’s proposal ‘Dnieper River Park’ identified Kiev’s two major assets – the park and the river as the new green and blue DNA of Kiev, stemming from their unique correlation and adjacency to the city centre.
