One of the most quoted platitudes about music is “It's a universal language”. This is way too simplistic - you have to struggle to learn another music system. But 40ish years ago a methodology for creating a truly global music emerged and has continued developing. Improvised music is not a style, but the methodology means that Norwegians, Argentines and Australians can all be playful together. The practitioners have different personalities and backgrounds, but an improvising group works as a community without preconception.

The Conspiracy In Music (video and article)
Abstract In this preliminary study a synthesizer was retuned to the “Perfect Circle of Sound™” (PCoS) in advance of investigations measuring neuro-physiologic responses in humans to varying frequencies of sound. 528Hz, a central wave form in the original Solfeggio musical scale, was used to begin construction of an octave determined to most reasonably approximate a standard melodious scale. Among the PCoS notes only 417Hz and 741Hz frequencies required exclusion due to their dissonance within the scale. This study evidences standard tuning in “A”=440Hz frequency is equivalent to the 741Hz F# frequency in the Solfeggio. Both frequencies may be bioenergetically degrading to human energy systems. The chance this precise association between the ancient and modern scales might have happened by chance, versus by sinister imposition, is discussed.
