(written for the human microphone at Zuccotti Park) I am humbled and honored to be amplified by your voices. You are not fighting against people, but against a machine. It was put in place over 500 years ago. By a wealthy elite – trying to repress a booming peer to peer economy. Those people are all dead, but their program lives on.

They invented an operating system called central currency. People who used to trade directly, were now forced to borrow money from the king’s bank. The elite also invented software for that operating system. It is a program designed to extract value. We outsource our work, we outsource our savings, we outsource our borrowing, we outsource our investing – all instead of sourcing one another. This 13th Century, printing-press era operating system is incompatible with a 21st Century economy. Too many are mistaking this operating system – for the way things are. The Long Extraction is Over. The peer to peer society is back. The rest of us are your followers. DouglasRuskoff: Think Occupy Wall St. is a phase? You don't get it. We continue our conversation with award-winning journalist and author Naomi Klein, who came to New York to participate in and address the Occupy Wall Street encampment. Her bestselling book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism focuses in part on Chile, where the shock doctrine produced world-changing events after Augusto Pinochet’s coup in 1973.

One of the biggest transformations of his dictatorship was to privatize education. Now, almost 40 years later, students are protesting in the streets. We speak with Klein about the student’s demands and what they feel is broken with the Chilean educational system. She also dismisses the critique that the related Occupy Wall Street protest lacks a clear set of demands. "What the demands should be to affect a system this pervasive and complex are by no means clear," Klein says. "So it’s really about the courage to ask questions, which we don’t have the available answers for. " NAOMI KLEIN: Yes. NAOMI KLEIN: Yeah. NAOMI KLEIN: Yeah. " Kanye West Visits Occupy Wall Street, Makes Bold Statement About Fiat Currencies By Wearing Gold Grillz. He’s no Thom Yorke, but it’ll have to do.

Yes, that Kanye West—the one with the $25,000 chains and small child-sized Horus-head-as-bling pieces—dropped into Occupy Wall Street today. He was apparently accompanied by Def Jam founder Russell Simmons, who Tweeted “kanye west is on his way to #occupywallstreet” with this photo: It sounds like it was sheer pandemonium, though no definitive accounts other than plenty of pictures and “he was here, and then he left” have yet to come through.
