A 6 month retrospective of Project Tohoku by our talented volunteers Lance and Motoko About Project Tohoku The March 11 earthquake and tsunami damaged 7,200 homes in Rikuzentakata and Ofunato, Japan leaving 26,000 people in shelters and evacuation centers. There was also devastating damage to local industry, resulting in an economic loss equivalent to an estimated three years worth of the area’s GDP.
