CES 2013: Hands on with The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC. LAS VEGAS—One of the more interesting PCs launched at this week's CES 2013 show is the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC, a 27-inch all-in-one desktop with around-the-house portability. Like the Sony VAIO Tap 20, the Horizon is an all-in-one PC with the components built behind the screen, but where the Tap 20 is large, the IdeaCentre Horizon is an XXL. It's designed for sharing the computer with the family, and as such Lenovo has worked with software developers to make sure it's not just another big-screen desktop that happens to tilt flat. The IdeaCentre Horizon's sports a 27-inch 1,920 by 1,080 (true 1080p HD) resolution screen. While we've seen that size before (notably on the Lenovo IdeaCentre A720), this is the first time we've seen that size of a screen on something that can work completely untethered.

Claimed battery life is about two hours. It's interesting that Lenovo has commissioned a new touch interface overlay, recalling what all manufacturers had to do pre-Windows 8. Paul J. Mr. 3M Touch Systems 84-inch Projected Capacitive Display hands-on. We knew we'd be seeing 3M Touch Systems' monster capacitive display once again, but we had no idea just how massive this year's iteration would be. Taking up residence in a corner of CES Unveiled 2013, the company's latest multi-touch prototype now measures in at 84 inches, far surpassing its 46-inch predecessor, with 100-inch versions waiting in the wings. This particular touch table now supports Ultra HD resolution (4K) and was shown running a software demo currently in use at Chicago's Museum of Science.

As you may be able to tell from the accompanying gallery, those floating images aren't of the crispest quality, but that's because the files aren't fully high-res. Of course, tech of this kind isn't necessarily intended for households -- not yet, anyway -- it makes for a more natural fit in commercial environments (think: airports, car dealerships or wireless retailers). 3M 80-inch Projected Capacitive Touch Display hands-on See all photos 7 Photos Comments. 3D Systems second-gen Cube 3D printer boasts faster prints and more materials. 3D Systems Unveils Next-Gen Popular Cube Consumer 3D Printer D Systems (NYSE:DDD) today unveiled the second generation of its popular home 3D printer, the Cube® with faster printability, greater materials selection and print modes including recyclable ABS plastic and compostable PLA and more colors including glow in the dark blue and green.

Next Gen Intel. LAS VEGAS--PCs on your coffee table, playing Monopoly. Super-thin ultrabooks. Voice and gestural computing. Intel showed these and more at their CES 2013 press conference. But does it add up to a firm control on the future of computing? Fourth-gen Intel Core processors aren't on their way immediately, but at this year's CES Intel was ready to demonstrate how its "Haswell" code-named chips will make Windows 8 devices of tomorrow even thinner and smaller than now ... if you're in need of that. Fourth-gen Intel processors will require touch and have mandatory Intel Wireless Display, a wireless video technology that many PC owners still don't realize they already have.

Haswell is part of Intel's road map for computers into 2014, and the biggest gains could be in battery life and extra features normally not seen in laptops. Intel also demonstrated table-top computers, some of which are here already in devices like the Vaio Tap 20 . Finally, Intel even dabbled in pay TV. Hands-on with Tobii REX, a peripheral that brings eye-tracking to any Windows 8 PC (video) One of the neat things about CES is that it gives us a chance to check in with startups we covered the previous year. In the case of, Tobii, 12 months makes a world of difference. When we met with the company last January, it had never publicly shown off its eye-tracking Gaze UI, which allowed us to navigate, zoom, select and scroll on a custom Windows 8 laptop with just our pupils and a touchpad.

After playing with it, it was obvious to us the technology still needed some fine-tuning, but nonetheless Tobii promised it would have a product to sell in about a year's time. Fast forward 12 months: Intel now owns a 10 percent stake in the company, and Tobii recently started shipping its first piece of hardware, the REX. This small USB peripheral, just slightly thicker than a pen, attaches to the base of any computer display, allowing it to bring eye-tracking technology to any Windows 8 machine.
