Christopher Mathie – Raku Portfolio. " United Passage" 27"h x 14"w SOLD — Collection of NYK Line, Tokyo, Japan The Port of Tacoma recently commissioned Mathie to create this custom Raku vessel to commemorate a document signing that happened in Japan in early September.
The Raku piece, gifted to NYK, abstractly symbolizes the passage from one place to another with a body of water in between, but the whole design is connected to symbolize unity, togetherness and cooperation.
