You know those beautiful floral looking decorations you sometimes see in magazines hovering over a festive table? Or in a kid’s room, re-invented as a mobile? At this point, you can either tie it onto the top of a gift for a big impression.

Or try hanging it from a ribbon over a Mother’s Day brunch table. Wreath Mania / Articles. The Most Flattering Shirt Dress DIY. Autumn Bloom Belt. As I mentioned yesterday, I LOVE autumn. Yesterday autumn got its own wreath and today it's getting its own belt. I'm going to show you how to make this belt and these fun flowers. When I made it I envisioned wearing it with a cute brown tunic, but I still haven't found or made one yet. Until then this dress will give you the idea. Let's get started. Here's what you'll need - a glue gun, some grograin ribbon, and 1/8 of a yard of four colors of felt. (Actually with these supplies you could make about 4 belts, but an 1/8 of a yard is the smallest measurement they let you order fabric in.) Cut your grograin ribbon to be the correct length.

Find the center of the ribbon. To make the flower cut the felt lengthwise in about a one inch strip. Cut slits in the strip as shown. Do this down the entire length of the strip. Start rolling the strips like a cinnamon roll. When you're done your flower will look like this, front and back. On to the petal. Have a lovely day. 15 Tips to increase your craft show sales. Image by somethings hiding in here Since we are thick in the middle of craft show/festival/fair season, I thought I would share some tips for how you can improve your craft show sales. These tips are based on both my experience as a shopper and as a seller and with more than a few shows under my belt in both capacities, I hope that these will prove helpful to you. If this post is right up your alley, then you might also like my post on 14 Craft Show Display Do’s. Additionally, if you are looking to shop at an indie craft show, try Craftzine for event listings. Standing is a much better vantage point for engaging customers.

Sitting down has the potential to send the message, “I’m taking a break, don’t disturb me”, and that’s not what you want. Now sitting is okay, if you use a tall chair (like a director’s chair) or a stool and are out in the booth, rather than behind a table. Even if you are grumpy, hungry, disappointed in sales and/or tired, make sure to smile. Image by Thomas Hawk. Southern Fairy Designs.

Handmade Tissue Paper Flowers and Pompom Garland. You'd think after making hundreds of these for my wedding, I'd be completely sick of them. But I can't help it, I love them so much! I'm a little sad that I didn't save a bouquet of paper flowers from my wedding, but I never thought I'd want to see them again. So I made some for home, only this time as a garland... ...And as bedroom decor... ...And maybe I couldn't resist making just a few little blossoms...

Want to make some? Materials: Tissue paper Heavy-duty scissors Floral wire Make sure you use a pair of scissors that you don't mind ruining, because they're going to take a serious beating here. For a package of 20" x 25" tissue paper, 8 sheets: Large flowers (Peonies): 16 per pack Small flowers (Carnations): 32 per pack Mini pompoms (Garland): 8 per pack Small pompoms: 2 per pack Medium pompoms: 1 per pack* Large pompoms: 1 per pack *There will be enough paper leftover from a medium pompom to make flowers or mini pompoms The flowers are easiest, so lets start there. And here's completed! WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT! So...i was figuring that it's never too early to start washing your kids mouth out with soap...and now that can be done with these soapsicles!...

Lol...i'm thinking i'm not going to be asked to babysit anytime soon!... Hee hee...anywho...thought i'd do up a tutorial on how to make these yummy tasting smelling soaps.... you'll need....a popsicle mold...this one's from go planet earth...but you can certainly use whatever mold you want...small soap bags...also from go planet earth...popsicle sticks...and large binder clips.... also...grab some clear melt and pour soap...glass measuring cup...soap colorant...i prefer liquid over the powder or gel...fragrance oils...and rubbing alcohol in a spritzer bottle... take your soap and cut up into chunks...and put in glass measuring cup...it takes about 2 1/4 ounces for one soapsicle...now that's solid weight...not liquid... once it's all melted...you'll want to spritz with rubbing alcohol...this takes the bubbles out of the soap... twistie tie 'em up!...

137 inexpensive, handmade holiday gift ideas, Part 1 - Craftynest. Why Christmas when we’re in the throes of summer? I know. I worked six years in retail. In my experience, nothing incited people’s groans more than Christmas being stocked on the shelves in August. However, I think this a worthy exception. After all, if you’re going to have a handmade Christmas, you can’t very likely undertake the proposition in December, now can you? I’m excited to share this prodigious list of Christmas gift ideas that I compiled years ago. This is the first of seven parts that I will post over the next few weeks (MWF). (+our wedding music) If you’ve been following my blog, you know how I made 60 of these painted frames with song lyrics for our wedding decorations /favors… Well, a lot of wedding guests loved them and took one home, but we had a ton left at the end of the night, which we boxed back up and took home with us… So we now have 30 of them hanging on our big white living room wall! Yay!! There are several duplicate lyrics, some of which I already changed out to engagement photos, but once we get our wedding photos I’ll switch out some more lyrics with photos (but just a few, because we love the look of the lyrics!)

: So, hey, you want to know how to make these yourself? I made 2 different types of painted frames: textured frames that were just plain spray painted, and smooth(ish) frames that were painted with lace used as stencils. I did them in batches of 6-10 at a time – sprayed 1 coat over them all, then went back with a 2nd coat over them all. For the lace stenciled frames, there are a couple extra steps. Psimadethis. My DIY Wedding  My husband (and business partner) Danny and I are both very artistic and crafty people by nature. So naturally, a lot of elements at our own wedding were handmade. Here is a peek at some of what we did in the hopes it will inspire you to infuse a little bit of the do-it-yourself spirit into your wedding day.

While I didn’t actually make my own dress (you gotta draw the line somewhere), I did make a few really easy alterations to it. First, I thought the bottom edge of my cocktail length dress was a wee bit plain so I added a vintage-looking trim to it. A lot of things in the wedding were themed around ribbons, so I also added a variety of pink to white ribbons streaming down the back. I love how in some of the dancing shots these swing! I bought a whole bunch of various fake flowers from Michael’s craft store and fashioned these little guys. Our wedding was held at the Washington Park Boathouse. For our save the dates, I took photos of us with a blank sign. Candle & Soap Making Techniques.

Cardboard Gift Tags | Family Chic. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2011 | Comments: 17 The arrival of my husband's new bass amp has provided me with an enormous corrugated box to work with. I've been hooked on embroidery these days – so I couldn't resist using the cardboard to stitch up some gift tags for Valentine's Day. I cut out a piece of cardboard and pressed a cookie cutter into it to leave an impression that I could work from. You could also trace with a pencil – but I find this is an easier technique to use with kids and there are no pencil marks to erace.

Using a blunt needle, pierce holes into your shape. I spaced mine about 1/4" apart. Thread your needle with yarn and – using a back stitch – fill in your design. This is a great way to teach your kids some basic stitches. Make it Modern. Cool Things to Do, Make, See, & Buy for Kiddos. Homemade Perfume. A fine perfume can have a hundred ingredients — but sometimes simple is just as sweet.

While you can make perfumes with combinations of essential oils, or with complex top notes, middle notes, and base notes, a delicate water-based perfume with a floral scent is deliciously direct — and an ideal gift for a romantic at heart. Not to mention that making your own perfume is a way to eliminate the harmful chemicals or preservatives often found in synthetic fragrances, such as phthalates, some of which have been shown to cause health problems.

A homemade, all-natural, water-based perfume is the best Earth-friendly option. When making perfume as a gift, it’s important to keep in mind the recipient’s tastes and preferences. You’ll want to use a highly fragrant flower to achieve a good scent, so think about which flowers your beloved enjoys. Basic supplies for making perfume: Instructions for making perfume: 1. 2. 3. 4.
