By THE TIMES SECOND LEADER - THE TIMES (LONDON) Added: Tuesday, 10 August 2010 at 10:23 PM In a remarkable gesture, The Times of London today used its second leading article to pay tribute to Christopher Hitchens. There may be precedents for this, but I cannot think of any, and I must say it delights and moves me.
By: Eryn Sun Christian Post Wednesday, 12 October 2011, 6:47 (EST) Reappearing in the public eye after months of absence, the much weakened and gaunt Hitchens, who currently suffers from esophageal cancer, accepted the “Richard Dawkins Freethinker of the Year” award over the past weekend in Houston at the annual convention of the Atheist Alliance of America and Texas Freethought. The 62-year-old author, who had at one point temporarily lost his voice due to his sickness, was able to stand up and speak again before the young crowd of atheists, countering in his usual manner the “spread of delusion” and championing “freedom of inquiry.” http://au.christiantoday.com/article/dawkins-praises-hitchens-in-convention-for-being-an-atheist-even-while-facing-death/12190.htm

The effectiveness of waterboarding (form of torture) Posted on Saturday, July 5th, 2008 under Miscellaneous by BK Well known author Christopher Hitchens agreed to be waterboarded by the U.S Military in an effort to see if it constituted as torture or not. Waterboarding is used in interrogation and is effective because it simulates drowning and forces a gag reflex on the victim. It involves having layers of towel placed over the head, and the entire body restrained. The towel is held down firmly and water poured over it, which seeps through and enters the nasal passages of the victim.
