If “Siri” seems like a strange name to you, don’t fret. Steve jobs felt the same way, according to Siri co-founder and former CEO Dag Kittlaus. Kittlaus, speaking at Technori Pitch yesterday in Chicago, explained that Siri means “beautiful woman who leads you to victory” in Norwegian, and was a potential name for his future daughter. After several months of trying to make things work with eDirectory, we have recently given up. Our goal was simple -- to bring a directory online to serve our community. We wanted to use off the shelf software to do this. eDirectory, on the surface, looked like a great way to go -- in the end, it was nothing but frustration, and from our point of view, if felt like a 'front' set up to essentially lead you in with just enough solution to look complete, and then nickel and dime you all the way with customizations. Since you'd be locked into the solution, you would have no choice to change ... or moving away would be painful at best.
