Archaeology - The Study of Human History. Management of Research Projects in the Historic Environment: The MoRPHE Project Managers' Guide. The Management of Research Projects in the Historic Environment (MoRPHE) has been produced following a review of an earlier guidance document, Management of Archaeological Projects (English Heritage 1991), widely known as ‘MAP2’.
It provides a general model of how projects should proceed, definitions of the roles involved in a project, guidelines in good practice in the various stages of project management and a series of document checklists to guide documentation of projects. This generalised guideline is complemented by separately issued Project Planning Notes covering specific types of projects, and Technical Guides covering in more detail aspects relevant to all research in the historic environment sector.
