BioFoam®: a new biodegradable EPS | | Synbra. Woensdag 28 oktober 2009 Synbra Technology presents BioFoam®, a new biodegradable EPS. This environmentally friendly material is made from plant and vegetable waste. A worldwide patent has been awarded for BioFoam®. Initially, BioFoam® will be used by Synbra’s subsidiaries for packaging industry applications. Even so, there is every possibility that BioFoam® may also replace EPS in building products in the future. If the raw material from which EPS is made (petroleum) becomes scarce, Synbra can always fall back on an environmentally friendly alternative in the future. The development of BioFoam® was one of the factors that helped Synbra Technology BV to win the Prima Ondernemen Award recently. Together with development partners PURAC and Sulzer Chemtech, Synbra Technology also won the ''2008 European Polylactic Production Technology Innovation of the Year Award'' for this innovation.
